Loving a Marine brings you into another family. The Marine Corps family. This family has a unique and special bond. It is strong. Often stronger than any other you've known outside of blood bonds. With that comes many shared experiences, emotions, up and downs, fears and joys, elations and sometimes heartbreak. While we share all of these, holding hands and hearts, happy dancing and shedding tears, let us always remember to support one another through the good and bad. Let us rejoice together each accomplishment whether graduation or HomeComing and let us support together each battle lost whether it will sting for a short while or leave heartache for a lifetime. To that end, when you see a condolence thread for a Fallen Hero, find the strength to offer your words of sympathy just as you'd take comfort from them yourself. It is what should be done for family. I know it brings a lump to your throat, they're living our worst nightmare, they're walking our most feared path, yet no one should walk it without their fellow Marine family supporting them every step of the way. Take the time, your words make a difference in the darkest days. Your continued support may mean the world to another who needs it more than you'll ever know. If you are here with us, you must recognize the support through this journey is vital as our numbers are many and growing daily, let us keep that spirit when giving our support to those who've lost their beloved Marine.
With deep appreciation,
Laura

Thanks, JoMom and Barb. Here's a link to help anyone find the Fallen Heroes Condolence Forum where members may leave messages of support for the families:

Comment by 1~Good2GoMom (Barb) on January 24, 2012 at 9:37pm Thanks for the reminder Laura. Just in case people aren't familiar with it, the Condolence Forum is displayed on the Home Page of Marine Family Network in the box titled - "PLEASE TAKE TIME TO PAY TRIBUTE TO OUR FALLEN HEROES." It's also listed on the "Connect & Share" tab, as well as on the "Fallen Heroes" (on the "Links" tab).
I can say without a doubt that the posts from our members DO make a difference to the families of the fallen. Many of them come upon these messages when they do online searches for their loved ones' names. In my job here, handling Gold Star Family Support, I've had the opportunity to talk to a number of Gold Star Family members. And without a doubt, the one thing they seem to fear is that their loved one will somehow be forgotten. You can help make sure that will never happen by remembering them in their grief and lending some words of support.

Even though I follow the 2/4 dicscussions on this page I just found the blog section recently. Perhaps some don't even know the Condolence posts are there ?
Thank you, I feel deeply that our support is vital to the loved ones in their greatest time of need. We have the membership to make the outpouring of support great in this area just as we do in all other areas. Your support is appreciated.
Very True
This is so true. The words may be hard to find but it's so vital. Eloquence is not necessary, just what's in your heart. Thank you for reminding us.
