Deployment is Coming

I’m storing up

Conscious memories –

The hug

The look

The smile

The laugh

The silhouette

The familiar sound of his voice

Deployment is coming.

I’m living life with

Heightened senses -

A cool breeze

A warm meal

A day at work

A phone call

A text

A feeling that he is safe

Deployment is coming.

I’m facing a

Familiar journey –

Same friends

Same country

Same fear

Same love

Same pride

Same God walking with us both

Deployment is coming.

I’m bracing myself for

Real possibilities -

The news

The call

The knock

He’s wounded

He’s gone

Months without peace of mind

Deployment is coming.

I’m resting in

His Promises –

Rejoice evermore

Pray without ceasing

In every thing give thanks

I will never leave you

My grace is sufficient

Deployment is coming.

I’m grateful for–

A Savior’s strength

My family’s love

The ones who’ve gone before

Those beside me now

The time we’ve had

The journey ahead

Deployment is here.
