I’m storing up
Conscious memories –
The hug
The look
The smile
The laugh
The silhouette
The familiar sound of his voice
Deployment is coming.
I’m living life with
Heightened senses -
A cool breeze
A warm meal
A day at work
A phone call
A text
A feeling that he is safe
Deployment is coming.
I’m facing a
Familiar journey –
Same friends
Same country
Same fear
Same love
Same pride
Same God walking with us both
Deployment is coming.
I’m bracing myself for
Real possibilities -
The news
The call
The knock
He’s wounded
He’s gone
Months without peace of mind
Deployment is coming.
I’m resting in
His Promises –
Rejoice evermore
Pray without ceasing
In every thing give thanks
I will never leave you
My grace is sufficient
Deployment is coming.
I’m grateful for–
A Savior’s strength
My family’s love
The ones who’ve gone before
Those beside me now
The time we’ve had
The journey ahead
Deployment is here.

Tears to my eyes as I think back while he was home, these thoughts went through my mind and soul, loved hearing him laughing, smiling, and knowing he was safe. God be with them as they serve.
Comment by 1~17smom (Julie) on December 8, 2011 at 5:02pm Amy, again let me say I'm glad you've decided to "pick up the pen" and share your thoughts with us. A lovely rhythm, a gentle ride -- a much better one than the roller coaster we sometimes seem to jump on to when "Deployment is Coming."
Beautiful...we're here for you and praying for your Marine!
