Guilt Over Missing First Call From Boot Camp

My son arrived in Parris Island yesterday and if it wasn't hard enough to let him go, the anticipation for the first call was absolutely killing me and my wife. I was told the call would come around 10pm or so and I was pacing back and forth in my living room for hours up until 3:30am when I figured the call wouldn't come and I went to bed. Still though I placed one of the house phones right next to my head just in case. Well due to being sleep deprived for the past few days with anxiety…

Question about Basic Training

My boyfriend is on the delayed entry program for the Marines. He is set to leave in October as of right now. What are the chances that he will be told to go early?

Thank you,

a very worried girlfriend

Graduation delayed due to needing more intensive PT

I received a call from the Captain of my Recruit's platoon stating that he did not pass the last portion of the War Training and will be held back until he is able to pass...the Captain also stated that the soonest he can graduate is 2 weeks later than his previous graduation date.

I cannot help but think it may be due to the fact that he was put on 2 days of bed rest for pneumonia several weeks ago.

Regardless of the reason, I appreciate them preparing him as thoroughly as…

Boot Camp Drop

Last night my daughter called - I know I was panicked!  She is being dropped today - can someone tell me exactly what that means?  She has been in boot camp for about 1 month and has been doing well.   We have received letters from her regularly and she seemed to be on course to finish.  She was even going for the iron woman.  Now, she said that she will not be completing boot camp and that she will be coming home.  She was in tears as this has been a life long dream.  Can I go pick her up? …

Leaving for Boot Camp

Hello all,

My boyfriend is a poolee right now so I am preparing myself for him leaving in July for boot camp. Still having a hard time dealing with things. I support his decision completely and will stand by him through it all, but any advice on dealing with him being gone when he leaves? Thanks so much

Marine/Recruit Girlfriend

Hey everyone,

My boyfriend left yesterday to go to Parris Island, Im still trying to figure out the best way to go about coping with this long bootcamp. I have a journal I plan on writing in everyday that he is gone. But I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice on how to cope.

Thanks everyone.

Am I being robbed?

In a very short time I have a Poolee that will become a recruit. Like all of you, I am filled with pride and anticipation.

I told my son that I envy him. The things that he will see and do, the sense of accomplishment that comes from working as a team and the satisfaction of a job well done will be amazing.

However, I can't shake the feeling that I am being robbed.

Over the next 4 years ( at least ) I am not going to be there for a lot of the firsts that are going to…

Where to stay while visiting Camp Lejeune

We are going to visit our new marine this weekend and was wondering where a good place to stay is around Camp Lejeune. A place that has things to do around it at a reasonable rate. Thank you

Finally on September 1, 2016 after 21 weeks on PI (8 weeks in MRP) my Son earned the title of US Marine! He is currently at MCT expected to graduate October 11, 2016. So glad he is finally on track to his career. His 22nd birthday soon!

My boyfriend is currently at SOI ITB at CP. His MOS is 0331 (machine gunner). He said there's a good chance he may be stationed at CP when he graduates. Does anyone know if the different 03xx usually get stationed at certain PDS's? For example, do most 0331's get stationed at the same base?

A post on the MFN FB page for SOI ITB West said that:

0311’s or Weapons MOS will be sent directly to a PDS (Permanent Duty Station) at any of the below…

Not sure what to do

My marine is about to be stationed in Hawaii we aren't married and I don't see it working out. I don't want to leave him but it seems like the best choice. I've tried breaking it off but he freaks out and thinks it will work out. I just need some advice I'm tired of being long distance and alone.. I can handle deployments and all as I have basic and now school of infantry but with him going to Hawaii I just don't have any hope or anything to look forward too.. Any suggestions?

Losing him at MOS

Hi all, hope everyone is doing well. I'm sorry to post here, I'm just having trouble finding another support group and I really need some advice. I've been with my boyfriend for a year and a half. We've survived long distance, bootcamp, and MCT, and much more. He's currently in his second week at Pensacola for his MOS and is supposed to be there for at least a year. We've been in a pretty good spot with each other--I wrote him every day while he was at basic, and I got letters from him one…
