Also my other son is in the Navy. So apples didn't fall far from the tree!!! I still worry every day and pray they are all ok!!!!

I know its rough waiting for that fist letter, especially since you didn't get that call. Right now, cause it goes on through their whole career, 'No news, is good news'. Its so hard to swallow that as a parent, since WE have been there their whole lives and now someone else is looking out for their best interests right now. The letter will come (about 2 weeks) and though it's not much, at least you will have the address to start writing. And is does feel so much better once you can write to them!
More than likely, he didn't get to make that first call because of time crunch getting everyone in those first few days (this is where the no news is good news applies :) ) He is safe on the Depot, in the hands of the Marines! What could be safer? :)
Hang in there, you'll get through this just fine and soon you will have a newly minted Marine!
I'm in NorCali, enduring a horrid rainstorm. Are you dealing with snow?
I am new to this so forgive me for silly questions - I appreciate your help and understanding - more importantly I appreciate in advance your support in knowing what we are going through as parents of New Recruits going through this process. I am more stressed and emotional now than I was a couple days ago - can't put my finger on the reason other than perhaps I haven't heard from him yet - besides the first phone call - haven't received a letter with address yet - I completely support and understand they have a complete process to follow - just miss him and wondering how he is, etc. Thank you for being here! Looking forward to making new friends - by the way - we are from Central Illinois.

To post in any topic/discussion you need to "Join the group" - there's a link in the top cream bar, to the right near your username and the log-out spot. Click to 'join' the group.
All of our message board categories fall under the heading of the GROUPS tab at the top of the page or look for “GROUP CATEGORIES” along the right side about ¼ of the way down.
