Attention any and all who are attending the April 4th Meet & Greet. Unfortunately we have heard back from the SDI's/DI's with their regrets about being unable to attend. Although disappointing, we will still be able to meet them Thursday. We are going ahead with the Meet & Greet on Wednesday, April 4th as planned. We can get our 'meeting and greeting' Wednesday taken care of so on Thursday, we can concentrate on our new Marines. Thank you! To learn more about this event, please…See More
Great to meet you! I look forward to chatting and getting to know you and your son. My husband was in the Marines before I met him. I have heard so many stories. Also my other son is in the Navy. So apples didn't fall far from the tree!!! I still worry every day and pray they are all ok!!!!
There are no silly questions! You've seen the other moderators say it, your child enlisted, you were drafted into all this! :)
I know its rough waiting for that fist letter, especially since you didn't get that call. Right now, cause it goes on through their whole career, 'No news, is good news'. Its so hard to swallow that as a parent, since WE have been there their whole lives and now someone else is looking out for their best interests right now. The letter will come (about 2 weeks) and though it's not much, at least you will have the address to start writing. And is does feel so much better once you can write to them!
More than likely, he didn't get to make that first call because of time crunch getting everyone in those first few days (this is where the no news is good news applies :) ) He is safe on the Depot, in the hands of the Marines! What could be safer? :)
Hang in there, you'll get through this just fine and soon you will have a newly minted Marine!
I'm in NorCali, enduring a horrid rainstorm. Are you dealing with snow?
I am new to this so forgive me for silly questions - I appreciate your help and understanding - more importantly I appreciate in advance your support in knowing what we are going through as parents of New Recruits going through this process. I am more stressed and emotional now than I was a couple days ago - can't put my finger on the reason other than perhaps I haven't heard from him yet - besides the first phone call - haven't received a letter with address yet - I completely support and understand they have a complete process to follow - just miss him and wondering how he is, etc. Thank you for being here! Looking forward to making new friends - by the way - we are from Central Illinois.
