I know it might look a little funny, but it just means that I’m a volunteer at MarineParents.com. (All of our volunteers have a "1~" on the front of their usernames.)
My job title is Director of Outreach Programs.
My areas of responsibility are the Outreach Programs of MarineParents.com including:
I hope you will take a moment and click on some of our Outreach Groups and see if there is some way that you might be able to help. We have activities that members can do right in their own homes or communities. All of our Outreach Programs make a HUGE impact on the lives of Marines and their families - please consider joining us. If you have any questions about any one of them, just post a comment on my page and I promise to get back to you ASAP.
Thanks,
Barb

Big congrats and a round of applause for our Founder and Executive Director, Tracy Della Vecchia. She was recently chosen as one of the 20 finalists for the "Citizen Service Before Self" Medal of Honor. This is a HUGE deal and we are very proud of her!

I saw your note, Barb, on Tina's page. We visited Tellico Village four times over three years in the late 90s, planning to retire there. Tellico Village is south of Knoxville and a little west, if I remember correctly, of Maryville - that Tina mentioned. It is a gorgeous, gorgeous area on Tellicao Lake with the Smokies as a backdrop. Of course, when push came to shove, I couldn't leave the area we've lived in most of our lives and too far from the kids...even though property taxes are so very low there.
If you get the time you might visit that area, too, after Fairfield Glade. What fun to go 'shopping' : )!
Hey Barb - I don't know much about Fairfield Glade, but you should check out Maryville, Tennessee. It is at the base of the Smokies, a beautiful town. My parents live there and we tried to move there, but couldn't sell our house here in Knoxville. We are about 30 minutes from Maryville. There is Maryville College and a cute downtown historic area (not huge), but good stuff going on at Library, college and other places.
Hey Barb - where are you coming in Tennessee?
Hi, I'm fairly new to the MarineParent website. My son is now a Poolee. I've always liked writing, and find myself wanting to write cards/letters to OperationPal. I wish I had a group who were writing letters, instead of just being one person. I'm not sure where to start. If I write to one wounded soldier, a few of them, or all of them. Today I made a short list of who I could start writing to. If you have any ideas or tips, I'd sure appreciate it:) Thnx.
Thank you! I was able to correct the problem.
Glad to be here.

Thank you for the welcome, and nice to meet another from Michigan:)
Thank you so much! Always breaks my heart when we lose one of our service men or women, never dreamed it would hit so close to home. I've sent invites to my cousin's immediate family as I feel they're going to need someone to reach out to in the weeks and months ahead. We are so very proud of our loved one for the sacrifices he's made for our country and he's missed terribly already.
My daughter and I were honored to be there for pack day. What a humbling experience for us.
It was so good to meet you on Saturday! What an inspiration you are.
Thank you Barb, I appreciate your help!
