My Poolee is 30 days from his ship date today. Two nights ago at about 8pm I got a phone call from him that started with "Mom I'm hungry."
To which I responded "Where are you?" Since he is generally working or at PT almost constantly it was a valid question. Thankfully he wasn't just calling me from downstairs in the kitchen!

Life feels different on the other side of official. Before today my son wanted to join the Marines, but he wasn't officially a Poolie. Now he is official, he has sworn in and signed a contract. At this point he has an open contract with no job specified, but that will change. He has a tentative ship date, and scores to go off of and jobs to choose from. He is officially official. When our son made the unexpected announcement last week that he wanted to become a Marine he offered us his recruiters name and told us we could meet with him if we had questions. IF we had questions? Of course we had questions!
Most of my questions revolved around how did I get blindsided by this?
What happened? My tender hearted son wants to become a Marine. How did this happen? When did this happen? Who caused this to happen?
