I need help, clearly I don't know what I'm doing.  I'm just going through and it seems that I'm not part of any discussions?  This is too much.  too much to process.

I wish I had know about this forum when my son was in boot camp, I was a wreck.  He's my youngest son and I just missed him terribly.  I still do, because he is now at his MOS destination.  Military Occupational Specialty.  I'm not sure if I'm ever going to get used to this.

the booklet gives you information on graduation which usually happens every Friday unless in falls close to a holiday.  The graduation is amazing! They say to wear comfy shoes during family day which is true, but me and my son drove around the base.  Lines are long everywhere you go.  Be prepared for that.  I suggest real cameras. I personally didn't sign up for any of the activities, I just wanted my son to myself.  The memorabilia they have in the booklet to order is good to have for family day and/or graduation day.  Each company is color coded.  I'm not sure if it changes after each graduation.  I was told not to book a flight earlier than 3 pm ( I flew into Charleston) and I have to say that we spent the whole day in the airport because Charleston didn't have early flights; we didn't board our plane until 7:50 pm and the graduation is only an hour long. (9-10 a.m.) It was a long day.

I can answer a few questions as my son just graduated from Parris Island on January 13, 2017.  I received a message from my son at 4 am letting me know he arrived in SC, I then received a standard letter with his platoon #, his battalion and company.  I wrote him twice a week.  They say that week 9 is the week when you receive a packet (booklet) about the island the do's and dont's for travel.  It was a god send because I was actually able to call the base and speak to real people.  they can't answer all of your questions but they were helpful.  I did a lot of googling to figure things out on my own.  I only received 3 letters from my son for the 3 months he was there.  They are uber busy and only have Sunday for down time.  I cherished each letter.

Our security

With the recent proliferation of threats to America and Americans, I thought this would be a good time to discuss safety, also known as Operational Security, or “OPSEC”.
