He did just have his full physical.  I would imagine they do a hearing test.  I'll ask him about it though.

have him get his hearing checked. seems like an issue for all of them, all that noise.

Thanks Katbalou!  He was in Okinawa for two years for his PDS.  He is a heavy equipment operator so never deployed other than for humanitarian ones in Australia, South Korea and Indonesia.  Then for his last two years he has been at Camp Pendleton and only did a training in Oman.  And operated equipment on Camp Pendleton.  His unit did their last deployment to the middle east just prior to him getting in.  So no PTSD.  Yes he has been very fortunate with all of the timing.

no Ptsd? very lucky. did he deploy at all.? have him  ask while in out take classes about using the VA for  medical, might go by income, not sure.

Katbalou he cannot get disability because he has no health issues what so ever.  He's very healthy.  Not even a sprain.  He had his last physical exam.

Comment by Katbalou2002 on May 29, 2016 at 6:50am

has he applied for a disability rating? make sure he does this before getting out, make sure he has copies of all medical records when he does leave and he has documented everything. over 50% rating is free for life plus he will get a disability check.

I have looked thru the VA insurance links and find it confusing.  I have a question that for us is very basic because my son does not have any health issues at all .... none prior to joining and none from being in the military.  His annual exams all give him a clean bill of health.  He will have only been in 4 years active duty when he gets out.  Upon getting out can he still get health insurance through the VA?  If so, I'm assuming it would not be free?  So he would have to apply for it and get a quote just like any other health insurance?

Another option for Veterans is hiring fairs direct solely at military members. If you do a search for Hiring Fairs for Veterans, you will find several sites you can explore the possibilities.

There is an issue which is becoming increasingly more common.  THe VA charging the Vets private or personal medical insurance (if they have said insureance) as a part of their Rating Evaluation/Assessment/Claims process. If this happens go to the VA website for your area and find the OIF/OEF Director in your area... they should be able to assist you with this issues. there is also an advocacy dept with every VA in every state.
