Im really pushing about it because Im pregnant and going through a lot so I want to be prepaired for how often I will get to talk to him.

No, they don't get liberty every weekend. They are in the field on some of them.

They might get liberty on the weekends, but will probably be in the field for one of them and not get liberty that weekend.  Also, if they fall out on a hike or don't pass a test, they will not get liberty that weekend.

It really depends on their SSgt ~ when my son was @ MCT in OK, he got to use his phone often; weekdays & every weekend.  They dont usually get mail tho & expect to not know where he is going to after until a week before grad.

GtK07:  I know its hard not knowing how much communication you'll have with your Marine.  The bottom line is that phone privileges are at the discretion of their command.  The reason that you've heard different things is because each platoon/command is different.  Typically while at MCT new Marines will be able to use their cell phones on weekends... if they have liberty and if they are given that privilege.  Generally they can, but that privilege can be taken away if the platoon broke rules, didn't train well, etc.    As others have said when they are in the field they won't have liberty and thus wouldn't have phone privileges.

Thanx everyone! Ill just always keep my phone on me and hope that he can call. :) I know he will when he can.

Check out the facebook page for MCT. It will let you know what they're doing each day. It at least gives you an idea when liberty will begin on the weekends. As Sue said, the privilege can be taken away though.
