My son told us last night that at ITB he will be trained as a Rifleman.  After graduation he will head north of Camp Pendleton for MART (Marines Awaiting Recon Training), where he will prepare mentally & physically for the rigorous 13-week Recon Training.  Anyone else headed this route?

Yep...My son is too.  What Co/Plt is your son in?

My son just started ITB on January 17 at Camp P.  He's in Alpha Co, 3rd Platoon.  What about yours?

My son, Steven, is in A Co./3rd Plt as well and is a contract recon also. He'll be doing MART too after they graduate 20 March.

Glad to connect.  We can learn about this together!  I know they had a fun weekend off base!

Mine was off base too---what did they do?  Or do we dare ask?

Some went to LA, others to San Diego, and others to Oceanside.  Do you know which group yours was in?

Mine went to Oceanside-they talked about going to LA but I don't think they ever made it. Sounds like he had fun!

LOL...for you parents whose boys just had their first weekend of liberty....ask them if they just got their first tattoos.  That is the activiety of choice for their first weekend away (at least of the things that they will tell us).

I will ask on Friday when I hear from him!  He's always said he'd never do that, but we shall see!
