When my son graduates on 11/1 and his schools is at Camp Lejeune, will we be able to spend time with him after graduation?  Thanks.

Your son will have to report to his next assignment. What his new command allows changes by school and command. Some give the new graduates the afternoon off.
How can i find out?  Not sure if i will just do family day and not graduation if i can't spend time with him after graduation.  You would think since the MOS is there, that it would be possible.  And another question....does the MOS schooling number of days include weekends> or if it says it's 51 days...that it is 51 days not including the weekends??

Because each school is different and can change when command changes I do not know of any way to find out before your Marine reports. I believe the days total does not include weekend but is actual schooling days

No, he has to leave right away to his next destination. My son graduated from MCT 10/11 and left right away . But many Marines had their MOS changed on them due to whatever the need was for the Marine Corp. My son said out of 12 for his MOS only 4 ended up with it. What is your son's MOS?

Brian's MOS is 1371-combat engineering.  camp Lejeune is where his MOS is.

4 hours.  That's what mine gets.

But 96 hours for Turkey Day.

Is it on base liberty or can they fly home for Turkey Day?

I agree.. the standard letter we get doesn't say much... there is a website:

www.lejeune.usmc.mil/soi  Click on the "non.mi users" and follow the links to MCT Battalion.

It does say for those that r graduating w/Fox Co. 27 Nov is "Family Day"  3:30pm to 8pm then Ceremony on Tuesday 0830 .. nothing about extra time off...  I can imagine the hardship on many families whom attended their child's USMC Graduation and a month later to attend this, since we don't know when we will see our son next....  I wish he can get time off for Turkey Day!!

Are there any parent's attending MCT graduation on 11/22?

Hi CJsmom:  I wish I could attend his graduation, but I received a text from my son lastnight, that after graduation on 11/22 he will be heading to California for MOS. :( .  Very sad.  Is your son going too or is he coming home?

Hi MaDukes2011,

My son told me over the phone last Sunday not to attend graduation or family day because it would be a waste of time and money for the long drive. About 10hrs one way for us from Florida. He just texted me today to tell me his MOS is taking him to California too. There is a possibility that he will get leave for the holidays. I looked up his MOS and I don't see the next class starting until January 3rd. I pray that he will have leave for the holidays, otherwise this will be the first holiday we will be a part, but its just a part of military life we got to get used to. What MOS is your sons?

Hello CJsmom:
Ohhh well; let cry together then.  I cannot make it for MCT graduation.  We are from Boston.  He also mentioned not to worry if we cannot make it. The most important was PI Boot Camp. I missed a phone call last night  (mad at myself) and no text message either.  So I do not know whats going to happen tomorrow. According to him, he is going to Camp Pendleton CA for Assault Amphibious Vehicles after.  As you said; it is going to be (also) my first Thanksgiving and Christmas without him. :.(  I guess I have to learned that my son have flown the nest and become a Marine and a Man, and to try to understand my new role as a Marine mom.

Well CJsmom:  You have a Blessing Thanksgiving and God help us to cope with this empty nest syndrome.
