MCT is only 29 days long, so yes, he is correct.

For families with new Marines reporting to SOI/MCT soon, a list of supplies they need. They will usually have most of what is on this list and may only need to purchase a few items from the MCX on base. This is just gives you an idea of what all they have to pack.

Best wishes to your Marines upon checking in and beginning their combat training.

Check out the 'unofficial training schedule' listed above to see just what your Marines are doing.

An address can be found on the SOI East web page.
The Platoon number you get from your Marine although I have read where the Platoon number is not necessary in mailing letters to your Marine - your letters will get there. :)

No worries if you cannot attend graduation. There is a graduation at the completion of MCT but it is nothing like the boot camp graduation experience. The graduation from MCT lasts less than an hour. Many supporters do not attend unless they live in the area. MFN members who have attended report it was a good experience.
Not many go to SOI graduations because they are so short and the new graduates are boarding busses for their next assignment soon after graduation. I didn't make it to my Marine's MCT graduation either.
We did go to his MOS graduation and had a nice couple of days. :)

Upon arrival to MCT, if your Marine is picking up to begin training on the day of reporting, they do usually get a few moments of phone use before the phones are collected. Checking in and being assigned gear takes up a lot of time the first few days so if you don't hear from your Marine right away, this could be the reason.

When the phone calls stop or you no longer have communication with your Marine, it would be a good indication they have picked up to begin training. If you are still in communication, then they may be held over to do other needs of the Corps duties (like guard duty) and to pick up with the next class.

Best wishes and prayers for your Marines as they continue through MCT training,
