Marines leaving Camp Geiger for MOS schools in Georgia and Florida normally ride a bus to their schools. Marines graduating from MCT and moving west to their MOS school often travel red eye flights. MCT East uses Jacksonville and Raleigh/Durham.

If attending the graduation, family can meet their Marines at the airport and wait with them until their flight departs.

Question... Do the marines traveling west for MOS take a bus or do they fly?

I'm not familiar with New River so I can't help with that. PDA rules always apply to Marines in uniform in public.

I also would not recommend asking to speak to the CO (or anybody else in the chain of command). Let your husband decide what to do or ask for if there's a problem. I think of it this way - If my husband worked for a civilian company with a few hundred employees and he was scheduled to work on a certain day, I wouldn't call the owner of the company to ask if he could get off.

I am driving to NC tonight from FL to surprise my Marine on Liberty Sunday. Is there any updates I should be aware of? Worst case scenario, can I request to speak with the commanding officer to grant an exception?

Are the PDA rules the same as boot camp graduation? Any places on base worth seeing?

Thank you in advanced!

Yes, great news they are all ok. It shouldn't be long, they're almost there.
Prayers to follow them through that final hike!

Got a call from My Marine yesterday:)  She has to redo the hike as she passed out from heat stroke about 1/4 mile from the finish line:(  She said that she will still be carrying on with her company, but will not be in graduation.  Instead she will just wait in Lima (again) until the next company does their hike and then will travel to her MOS.  She mentioned that there were 4 or 5 others also.  Glad that they are all okay!!!

It is time dear Marine family and friends, AND to those that have gone before.  As the Tradition Began with WD, A Marine Family Parent, just like You and Me, and US. WE HAVE A CLASS that are to Begin the Crucible, that 54 Hour Test that Defines a Marine.  As they March into Those Woods, it is up to each of US, To Light a Candle, for it is the single flame within the night that defeats doubt, conquers concern, and brings them back to Marines. During these Next 2 Nights, remember OUR PEOPLE, 2nd Bat. Fox Co., 4th Bat. Novembeer Co, and Extra Steppers, Graduation 7/3/2014, Parris Island…

For this night, our fine Young People, at 0230 do begin... and WE, Very Proud Marine Parents, Aunts & Uncles, Grandparents, Wives, Husbands, Siblings, Children, and Loved Ones, Together, In Unison, can voice uplifting words for Our Marines in these Troubled Times and in our Troubled World, that they may find

  • God’s Grace and Esprit de Corps

  • Strong Will and Fierce Determination

  • Strength, Health, Honor and Courage

  • And always, always Good Luck

For it is that Light that comes, on the Dawn of that Third Day, taking that final hump back to the Prize for all that is.....that Shines over New Marines.

For Courage is endurance for one moment more …Unknown Marine Second Lieutenant in Vietnam.

You cannot exaggerate about the Marines. They are convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the most ferocious fighters on earth – and the amusing thing about it is that they are. …Father Kevin Kearney, 1st Marine Division Chaplain, Korean War
