SOI/MCT is 29 days from pick up to graduation. For those picked up to start training on April 15th graduation will be May 13th. SOI graduations are nothing like you experienced at boot camp. SOI graduations last less than an hour, after which the new graduates begin the process of moving to their MOS schools.

Marines picked up to start training 4/15 will be Kilo Company class 21-14(21st class of fiscal year 2014)

How do I find the company, class, and platoon numbers for the address?  My son left for MCT, in NC on April 15th.  Also, is graduation as big as boot camp graduation?  When do they graduate if they left on the 15th of April?  Some people are saying it is 3 weeks and some are saying it is 5 weeks. Then I see some have delays?

It is time dear Marine family and friends, AND to those that have gone before.  As the Tradition Began with WD, A Marine Family Parent, just like You and Me, and US. WE HAVE A CLASS that are to Begin the Crucible, that 54 Hour Test that Defines a Marine.  As they March into Those Woods, it is up to each of US, To Light a Candle, for it is the single flame within the night that defeats doubt, conquers concern, and brings them back to Marines. During these Next 2 Nights, remember OUR PEOPLE, 3rd Bat. Lima Co., 4th Bat. Papa Co., and Extra Steppers, Graduation 4/25/2014, Parris Island…

For this night, our fine Young People, at 0200 do begin... and WE, Very Proud Marine Parents, Aunts & Uncles, Grandparents, Wives, Husbands, Siblings, Children, and Loved Ones, Together, In Unison, can voice uplifting words for Our Marines in these Troubled Times and in our Troubled World, that they may find

  • God’s Grace and Esprit de Corps

  • Strong Will and Fierce Determination

  • Strength, Health, Honor and Courage

  • And always, always Good Luck

For it is that Light that comes, on the Dawn of that Third Day, taking that final hump back to the Prize for all that is.....that Shines over New Marines.

For Courage is endurance for one moment more …Unknown Marine Second Lieutenant in Vietnam.

You cannot exaggerate about the Marines. They are convinced to the point of arrogance, that they are the most ferocious fighters on earth – and the amusing thing about it is that they are. …Father Kevin Kearney, 1st Marine Division Chaplain, Korean War

The cash part is important because at MEPS they said to only take about $10 for some airport food.  That's all my son had, and then had to borrow from another Marine for his portion of the taxi to get to base.  But Marines are there for one another so it worked out.  I'd prefer to be prepared, and if worse comes to worse, he can help someone else out.

Thanks farmerette. It's good to hear this from someone who has 'been there.' :)

Thoughts and prayers for your Marine that all is well and MOS is good!

They don't call.  They have to take a taxi, typically, but can share with other Marines coming in. It's about $30, and they want cash.

There's a number on the SOI East MCT page (under checking in). Your Marine might check his orders too. There may be contact info there too.

There are usually other Marines at the airport who share rides (taxi) or the shuttle. Did your Marine check in with the USO in the airport?

Marines soon learn how to adapt. :) Best of luck and my best wishes when training begins,
