Welcome WilsomJadaLayla!
ITB is 59 days from pick up to graduation. You can find a graduation schedule on the SOI East web site. (On the right, last link at the bottom - graduation info).

I would guess your new Marine may pick up with Delta Company 4-15 since they graduate February 12, 2015.
Reservists are usually put through first.

My congrats to your new Marine with prayers in this next art of Marine training.

Proud Madre-

TriCare does not usually cover parents. If you meet a very specific set of circumstances, there is a program called TriCare Plus that may cover dependent parents. The only way that can happen is if a parent is declared a legal dependent of the Marine and the local military hospital commander agrees to treat them. The process of have a parent listed as a dependent is quite difficult. Among other things, the Marine has to prove that he or she is providing at least half of the parent's financial support.

Yes, his ID is his medical card and only covers him since he is single.

This member explains the insurance so much better:
"Health "Insurance" - The military medical system is called TriCare. Nearly all Active Duty Marines get their medical, dental, and vision provided by Navy doctors. They do not have the choice to go to another doctor unless the military sends them somewhere without nearby military medical facilities. The exception is when a Marine is on leave/away from base..."

Here is another discussion with a little more:

Keri, I haven't had time to talk about medical insurance with my son. Do they have medical insurance when on leave? I think I read their marine ID is also their insurance card. Another question: since he is not married and I am his next of kin, am I covered, too? I have searched the web but I need a more reliable source. Thanks in advance for any help.

Sorry his bags were lost. He's already learning just how to adapt.
My thoughts with prayers when training does begin.

My son told me that Friday night they had a special Birthday meal. Steak and mushrooms and cake and ice cream for dessert.

Anybody knows if our marines are doing anything special at Camp Geiger?
