That was pretty much my experience as well Kodiak 198.  We arrived Wednesday and got to have dinner with our Marine which was a nice surprise. On Thursday, graduation day, we arrived by 8am to the gym and the Marines arrived shortly after. It was a pretty informal graduation compared to PI, but very nice just the same. We could visit and talk more. The leave he received afterward was all dependent on his new command, which turned out to be almost as if he had a full time job at that point. We had him for dinner the rest of the weekend. Other families, whose Marines were shipped out immediately afterward, did not have that luxury. Once the graduation is over, it all depends on their MOS (job assignment).

Well, he/we made it through another phase. He got home yesterday evening. He is a reservist so we get to keep him awhile. Some have asked so I will post this here.
Our experience - liberty on the last weekend but cut short to midday Sunday. Wednesday liberty from 1630 to 2130. You can get a 2 day pass at front gate so you can drive straight in on Thursday. We arrived at 0820 and our Marines were already in the gym. We were able to visit until form-up 0850. After ceremony we could visit for about 10-15 minutes. They then march back to barracks and you might get to spend a little more time with them depending on orders.
AGAIN, this was our experience, yours may differ on Wednesday but I would think grad day would be very similar.
I hope this helps you in your planning.

Hi Judybee!
You can start with the SOI ITB East web sites. Click and read through all of the tabbed links on the right side if the page. Good information to learn. :)

For more information on ITB (brief descriptions) too, please check out

Since a schedule has not posted (I have not been able to find one), you need to rely on your Marine for pick up information. He should be able to call once he knows more. Checking in takes some time, so if you don't hear right away, this is what he may be doing.
Member usually start their own discussions here once you hear from your Marine and know a start date/Company.

My congrats to your new Marine and best wishes on this part of his training. Prayers too. :)

my son leaves for tomorrow for his MOS, Infantry.  Does anyone know of a site I can go to that will give me information on what his schedule will be like.  Also, what the graduation dates are.  I have no idea what to expect when he leaves tomorrow. LOL Can he use his phone? Does he call us when he gets there?  I'm obviously new to all this!  LOL Thank you for your help!

Got my call.  Bittersweet but still at least we were able to talk and text this weekend.  Only 52 days to go.

I don't think it is or will ever get easy leaving our Marines. But we learn to adapt and just 'roll with it.' I'm just so happy my Marine is doing something he really likes.
Your Marines Kodiak and Carolyn, must have checked in between start cycles. This would push your projected grad date out a week which would be my guess.

Just got home from an 8 hour drive after dropping our Marine off at SOI ITB East.  Just heard from him that he is not getting picked up until next Tuesday (as of now).  So, if any of you had a report date of today for the 59 days of training, you might be waiting an extra week like us.  Otherwise, he sounded pretty good and gets to keep his phone until pickup date.  It was a hard thing to do leaving him at the base but, this too shall pass.

Carolyn, if I hear of anything definite I will let you know here on the board.
