Family *Day and Graduation...

Comment by TJ's Mom on January 23, 2015 at 9:41am

Family and Graduation were awesome.  The time on leave is flying by quickly, but it's such a nice visit.  My son enjoyed his boot camp experience and the time with his Drill Instructors :)  He made some close friends and got contact information, hoping to be able to keep in touch.   I haven't spoiled my children, but I am my son these 10 days.  He worked hard and anticipates more hard work in the future.  I want to thank all of the DI's (I got to meet my son's DI's), and their wives, and everyone else responsible for the care of "our" children.  Semper Fidelis

Yes; it will be up for at least a month or so. But it will also be available in past graduation dates where you can retrieve it if you would like.

Thank you :) I know! My Marine (love saying that!) hates the portrait, LOL. I love it. So proud of him. Thanks for all your support & great info! Will this page stay around for a while?

Congratulations AmandaMomof3!  What a handsome Marine! Thank you for sharing.

What a huge difference between his portrait and graduation day! In his portrait there's still the look of boot camp in his eyes. At graduation he's all US Marine!

Again, congratulations!

Good evening new Marine family members!! Ooh Rah!

Many of you have made it safely home with your new Marine ~ taking deep breaths of relief and basking in the comfort of giving them as many as you can!

During these next 10 days your new Marine will be re-acclimating themselves to home and to their new way of thinking. You may find they are quieter than their usual form. Keep in mind, they've had weeks of strict structure. They have been told what to do, when to do it 24/7 for 13 weeks.

Now that they've left boot camp behind, they need to adapt what they've learned and apply it to the 'real world'. Your new Marine will share stories with you regrading their boot camp experience, but many experiences they will keep to themselves. There are some things that are definite 'you had to be there' experiences that are understood only by those fellow Marines who have successfully graduated from boot camp.

Some new Marines may not like what they find in the real world; unruliness, disrespectful attitudes are not acceptable to them. They will work out daily. A Marine will work out diligently. They will sleep and eat - a lot!

Monday, 01/26/2015 they will leave for SOI/MCT. You can find more information here regarding the next step of training:

http://marinefamilynetwork.com/page/wab-soi-mos

'What's After Boot Campwill explain the next step in your new Marine's journey. It's also a time of finding your own way as a parent/loved one of a Marine. It's a time of adjustment.

Don't forget MFN is here for you as always helping you to Connect & Share® with one another. As always, please remember, if you have any questions whatsoever, let me know. If I don't have the answer, I'll do my best to find out for you.
