This is a link about Boot Camp from a girlfriend.  She shares a lot of what Jenna wrote.

(Great post and advice, Jenna!  Thank you.)

I'm so new to this! My boyfriend left for boot camp on Labor day and I've been a mess since. I come from a military family and I thought I was prepared for this but I was so wrong. Any tips about how to make it through these next 13 weeks? I'm trying to stay as busy as I can and I'm trying to stay around my friends and family as much as possible. I've already wrote him a few letters as well. His mother and I talk to each other every day. Is there anything else I could be doing to help?

My boyfriend and I lived together before he left. Work is a great distraction for me but when I come home at night and I'm alone I break down.

It depends upon the DI.  If you put the platoon number on the envelope, it will get to the platoon.  Each DI is different and every situation is different.  Let us know what happened after your recruit tells you.

I forgot to put my recruits name in the envelope of the firest few letters.. apparently when that happens theyought send them back to me or he'll get in trouble (if they give him the letters) has this ever happened to anyone?

Hey, I was wondering how the weather would be like in OCT. 30 in San Diego. My boyfriend is graduating on that day and IM so excited to be reunited with my Marine. So I want to know if i should wear a dress if the weather is not cold.

Ashley, you ARE one lucky girl. :) Just be aware that there maybe times in the future that you will have a drought when it comes to letters. The ladies that are further along can warn you all about the pitfalls of Phase II.

Ashley,

There are times when he won't write every day, it will be physically impossible.  It's sweet to know that he loves you.  Do you love him enough to tell him not to write every day, for him to concentrate on Boot Camp?  He is training to become a Marine...the hardest military job for a young adult.  Guns, mind-games, etc.  He must be concentrating on his studies and his physical challenges.  Please don't take this as harsh, but as caring for you and your recruit.  That's the only reason I'm here.  <3  As a closing thought, I don't think I'd want my Marine/recruit training with someone who thinks of his gf and makes it a point to write everyday.  My Marine's life would be in jeopardy if the guy next to him couldn't focus.

I care about you.  I care about him.  I care about his platoon-mates.
