How is everybody doing today?

Good evening Group,

Tomorrow is considered Black Friday, the day on which your recruits meet their SDI (senior drill instructor) and the other DIs who will lead them through the next 12 weeks.  Platoons are not finalized until tomorrow-- meaning that even though they may already be "assigned" to a platoon it could change up through Friday.  This is because there can be shifting of recruits to even out the numbers in each of the platoons.

If you do have an mailing address from the recruiter, please go ahead and use it, but remember the address/platoon may change.  If it does, your letters should still get to your recruit-- it will simply take a little longer.

All of you should receive a form letter, which contains the complete mailing address, within the next 10-14 days.  In the meantime, please be sure to look over the links in the righthand column under "RecruitParents"-- you will find some very valuable information there.

And you can always ask me questions, I'll try to answer them for you in a timely fashion.

You are probably right. Tomorrow everybody should have an address for their recruit. :)

I misspoke, it looks like there are 2 for the women 4022/4023.  I didn't see it up at the top.

Comment by pammieob on April 25, 2013 at 4:28pm

Tammy, how did you get the platoon number, did the recruiter give it to you, also?? If there is only one platoon for the women, it must be the same one my daughter has.  Would you mind sharing it??

Comment by cmarie on April 25, 2013 at 4:16pm

I think the difference might be men/women.  Looks like there are 7 platoons for the men and only the one for the women.

I just finished reading Keeping Faith, very powerful book, lots of information.  Although most likely outdated.  I am trying to take in all the information I can about what he is going through now and each step along the way.

I got the same general address the morning she left but got her platoon number today. I guess it all depends on how fast your recruit is processed.

Comment by cmarie on April 25, 2013 at 3:57pm

My son's recruiter gave us an address too, but it a general one since they don't know what platoon he will be assigned to until sometime on Friday.

I know exactly how you feel. I was doing the same thing. Her recruiter told us the same thing but to my surprise he sent it to me today. Gonna be sending her a letter a day ;) I would call and ask the recruiter, it wouldn't hurt.

Tammy, ohhhh! His recruiter said to call him Friday. I wonder if he has it already. Anxious to do SOMETHING other than just sit around and think about him lol :)
