We just got our form letter and found out our son is in 3038. Looking forward to meeting you all!

My son is in 3038. Don't seem to be many of here...Form letter said 55 recruits.   Hope more find this page.  Patty

My son is in this platoon. 55 is a lot of people, I didn't think it would be so big! I'm glad I finally heard from him though

My son is also in this Platoon.  Looking forward to an actual letter from him.  I have been writing every day since I received the form letter, but I'm running out of things to tell him besides the obvious that I'm proud of him and support him.    Karen

Thank you so much for your input.  I'm glad to know that anything he gets from home is welcomed.  Hugs to you as well.   Can't wait to get home from work each day to check the mail!!

Hang in there Karen.  Seems like they can write on Sunday so depending on where you are located and judging from my post mark and I am only two states away it tooks 4 days.  I know it may seem like you are running out of things to say but I am sure he is so glad to just to hear from you even if it is the same stuff.  I write every day to my son too and I felt the same way but I talked to someone who had just finished basic and he said even one line on a paper is mail and mail is home and that's good.  Sending a virtual hug to you today and hope your mail has a letter in it.  Patty

My son is also in 3038. I have received 2 short hand written letters so far. As a Marine myself I can tell you they are very busy. What they need now are letters from us.

Hey guys.....Humor, pictures of funny things...the cat, the dog, anything that will put a smile on their faces. A local sports article about the HS teams, a comic strip.  and as JD950 says....just a "Hello and I love you.

Have you sent any of the Phase questionnaires? You can find questions to send them or print them out.

I'm so glad I found this site.  I was telling my boss yesterday that I was so excited to finally find other people to connect with, and his reply was, "Oh My God - get a life!!!"  Until it's one of your own, I suppose they just can't understand what we go through while we wait.  I especially like the links for the questionnaires - wonderful idea!!  Thank you Nanny.

I remember your son swearing in with mine at MEPS. My son was the one wearing the 1st Bn. MARSOC shirt. We are from PA and he will be a 3rd Generation Marine. Their schedule right now is relentless and they get at most 15 minutes a day to write. That also depends on if someone did something to cause them to lose their privledge for the day. It gets a bit easier every day.
This is normal and you'll be hearing more from him soon.

Thanks for the information Ken1225.  Good to hear from someone who has been there.  Seems like lots of PA men in this Plt.  We are representin' the South (FL that is).

I'm sure the young recruits in this platoon are represented from all over the eastern US. If this was last year our family would be headed to Pell City, Al. tomorrow for the AMA Amature National Motocross Races. My son raced in the 250 stock and modified classes. This year we'll be making our trip south for a much better reason. Graduation day in May.
