My son graduates from tbs on June 21.  He said there would be a Family Day on June 20.  Does anyone know where I could get a schedule for the Family Day activities?  Thank you!

That would be my husband's family, and no.  They came from Ireland via Canada.  Nick is a 1st LT too and has been serving as Company XO for a year.  He was acting CO for about 2 weeks!  I think you and I are both in the 1/4 group.  I recognized your profile pic from TBS days!

Deborah,  Are you aware of the 1/4 Family Group.  Sebrina, the FRO, is the person to touch base with to get approval to join.  Sebrina posted some pictures this morning from the family cruise on the Makin Island yesterday.  I'm here in Texas, so needless to say I wasn't able to go.  Frances

Yes, that's what I understood, that they were on the Makin Island to get "used" to it before the deployment.  I'll ask Chris about Nick.  Chris is currently serving as CO of H&S Co, though I don't believe that's going to last as Chris is only a 1st lt.

By the way, does your family have roots in South Carolina?  My father's mother was thatand I've researched back to about 1800 and hit a brick wall.  Always looking for fellow members of the clan.

Actually Nick went through fall of 2013.  My mistake!  He, too, is with the 1/4 and has lately been on the ship or in the field constantly.  I *think* he said they were on the Makin getting used to life aboard the ship that would be their home for 6-8 months.  Although we're all in California, we rarely see him.  Ask Chris if he knows Nick B, B Company, 1st LAR.

Hi Deborah, My son is with the 1/4 and will be going on the 11th Meu this fall.  I don't know if he will be on the USS Makin Island or one of the other ships.  He just recently finished a three week spell on the Makin Island.  Chris went through TBS during the fall of 2013.

Just wondering if anybody else's Marine is currently assigned to the USS Makin Island?  Mine has met someone he went through TBS with in 2012. What a long time ago that seems!

Glitch leaves hundreds of Marine officers unclear about career designation

By Lance M. Bacon, Staff writer 6 p.m. EST November 23, 2015

Due to technical difficulties with Marine Online, hundreds of officers selected for career designation were not notified of their selection. Marine officials have now created a work-around, and selected officers have until Dec. 20 to accept or decline the offer.
