Help us raise $5000 in support

Operation Joplin Recruiters
Collection point for donated items for the Marine Recruiter's family of five who lost everything in the Joplin tornado is in Columbia, MO on Wednesday, May 25th. Please help us spread the word in the central Missouri area!  List of needed items is here.

We're holding a fundraiser to collect $5000 to purchase household goods for a Marine Corps Recruiter from Joplin, Missouri. The Marine lost everything in his home except the kitchen table. He has a wife and three children. 100% of the donations will be dispersed as relief funds for the Recruiter and his family.

We're putting together an update that will come out in next week's newsletter and we'll touch base with the family tomorrow to see what else may be needed. Our local Marine Corps League took a check to them for $1000 as well.  Between that and the $1000 in clothing, we did meet the goal.  My apologies for not getting an update in here; the immediate need was met with so much love and support from all of you.

Watch for next week's newsletter; I'll ask Brittany to post a link to it here in this group as well and I'll try to update tomorrow on how the family is doing.

God Bless and Semper Fi,

The offer is still open from me to order some stuff from Amazon for the family (clothes, food, other supplies?) and have it shipped direct to them or some drop off point.  I have free 2-day shipping in most cases from Amazon . . .

Hi Joan -

I will check, but as far as I know they are doing better.  My brother-in-law said that there was a LOT of help in town, the water had been turned back on, people were slowly re-grouping.  My sister is going to be checking in and will be passing through Joplin next week and has offered to bring anything else that the family may need.

Photos from my brother-in-law - who rented a cargo van and drove much-needed furniture and supplies to the Joplin Recruiter's family.

Doesn't appear we've reached our goal yet!

Let me know what they need, Tracy.  You know you can get just about anything on Amazon -- clothes, food, toys, books, toiletries, etc.

We are almost at $3000 on fundraising! A family in Tulsa is bringing a television, sofa, coffee tables, lamps for the living room as well as a dresser for the little boy and some much needed water.

I do have some ideas for Amazon 17smom and I'll get with you on that.

We made a second donation today, too.
