Hi Chantel,

My son will be leaving for San Diego next week. He is really looking forward to the move. I already started saving up and hope to visit over the summer. It's great that you live so close and are able to visit often.

misskrysten I'm sure your Marine is at their PDS by now. Hope he is doing well.Sorry I didn't respond sooner. We live 4 hrs from base. We visited again in Feb. had a really nice time. I was thinking they would have Unique and be in school there all summer but I found out they no longer have it there. They will do that at their PDS. So my son will graduate on June 10, 2015. Need to get some more visits in, lol.

Hi Mikayla,

The school is seven months long. Hopefully classes start right away and he does not get stuck waiting to long. My son had to wait a couple of months before starting class.

Thanks Chantel! We are all so curious to see where he will be going. He said it can take a couple of weeks before he finds out. That's good that your son didn't have a long wait before starting school. My son had to wait a couple of months. I'm glad he likes it there. My son likes it there as well. We got to visit over the summer and we had a wonderful time. It's great that you have been able to visit 3 times. Are you close to the base?  I was so happy that they had the 2 week break over the holidays. Having the family together for Christmas was the best gift.

Hi misskrysten,
Yes my son began classes last November. He's been there since Oct. Congratulations on your son's Graduation! My son hopes to go to Japan. Keesler AFB is really nice. We've been there three times already. All of my son's classmates are Sailors. He really likes it there.

Hi Chantel,

I feel the same way. My son just graduated on Wednesday. He is still at Keesler AFB waiting to get his next orders. He has been there since March. Did your son just get there?

Hello everyone. I am the parent of a Marine at Keesler AFB attending school for METOC. Wish there was more activity on this page for us to connect. There are not too man ways for us with Marines in this MOS to connect.

Thanks Roxie!  My Marine did very well at Keesler and scored very high in all areas.  He was looking forward to working in the unit at Miramar, and is a bit bummed that it disbanded.  He had 3 choices for a new MOS that would allow him to keep his PDS at Miramar (needs that one since his college is right there.) After being away for 9 months at Keesler, he chose the shortest MOS which was 0111 Admin Specialist, only 11 weeks.  I wish your daughter luck with her new MOS at Little Creek.  All things happen for a reason. Thank you for your prayers!

Roxie there is generally a shortage of METOC Marines because training takes so long and so many find they are not suited to it.  Lat moving in is usually not too hard for that reason.
