Hi Melica and welcome!  If you look in the welcome section above, I have provided the direct link to the Marine Detachment site at Ft. Benning.  It looks like there may be a Ft. Benning FB page. (Click the find us on Facebook link just under Senior Commands).

My best wishes for your Marine as he trains at this MOS phase in his career.

Thank you charliep for this wealth of information!

Melica73  This is the right area for tanks, There is not a whole lot going on here.  My son is now a SSgt.  He is on TDY and away from tanks but was a tank and section commander before he left and will be when he comes back. He is at Twentynine Palms.  The bigger component of tanks are at 29.  The school lasts 2 months, so the turnover of family to run and maintain a site is pretty rapid.  FB groups were not big when Matt went thru Benning 6 years ago.  If you have not already looked thru you-tube, I suggest 1_3 Tank School!  It is a good look at what happens.  It is a little out of date only as to location as it was shot at Fort Knox.  It is certainly good as to content.  My son went to school as a Cpl, so he was one of the 4 nco transfers in his class.  He marched his platoon everywhere and led the pt in the morning.  They have long days, up at 5:45 and in bed at 21:00.  I get an email if you post here so I will try to respond if I see a question or a comment.  If we are lucky, maybe others will comment too.  Welcome and we'll see where he goes after school ends.

Actually, I looked at the USO Georgia website earlier and that was not listed as one of the services they provide. But, you never know. It's worth a try.

Hi Aleida! Here is our 15th MEU forum. Hopefully more families still join you there. You can even start your own discussion to connect there in the 15th MEU group. :) If you look in the welcome box you will see a link to the UIP (Unit Information Page) which lists the official links for the 15th MEU and each of the ships. Scroll to other helpful information.

Lesia, try talking to the USO for that area, see what they can do for you.

Hi, Leisa-- You might check out amazon. A few companies have birthday cakes listed there, and I know amazon delivers to APO/FPOs.  Hope that helps.

anyone have any ideas about how to get a birthday cake to my Marine at Ft. Benning for his 22nd bday?

My son has moved to Camp Pendleton to be part of 2/1 on the 13th MEU. Does anybody know if there is a MoMs facebook group for this battalion?

Our son is a tracker and he ended up getting a car so he could get around the base. The guys seem to help each other out getting places. But it is practically a city in itself. Maybe he could contact the chapel to see if there is anyone in his area that already attends the church and he could hop a ride.
