Erin

My son had three choices and he got Camp LeJeune  it is ok place they have remodeled alot of  the buildings and alot of new buildings are up

The Inn is one place they have remodeled or it is very new

we just went there to visit in very nice but congested Onslow beach is very nice for the Marines and their families

There is a NC Moms group on line but it is not very active

so maybe we can start one here if he goes to NC

The Radio Equipment is a little better than CA but not much

Since they are a little closer to the Naval Academy the personal comes and recruits for the Academy since there are openings up until the age of 23  If your son is still single  tell him to sign up for the Single Marine program for they wonderful programs and field trips it

Hope this helps

love to have more Camp L Moms to chat with on line

I am in TX

Erin, no there isn't. There are 3 main Comm Bn, Pendleton, LeJeune and Okinawa. It is really a crap shoot as to where they go. Plus, That MOS can be assigned to any Unit. When my son went through MOS 0621, they did not then train on 0622. I am wondering if this is going to be the norm? I know there is always change in the MOS to keep up with equipment, technology.

Hi there,
My Marine is stationed in 29 Palms graduating from 0621 training 15 JUL and will have a two week period before he starts 0622 training, still at 29 Palms. I am curious to know if there is a PDS that it is more primary than others when being given orders in the communication field? As a prior Corpsman, there were two primary locations for C schools and onward. Didn't know if it held the same for the devil dogs in 06 field.

I agree with Keri -- it's good if they get involved with work parties. Sometimes they start class in 3 day, in which case they don't have to worry, but sometimes they don't start for 3 months, in which case it's good to keep them occupied and helping out.

Scroll down to Field 06 here and see the other additional websites. http://www.whatsafterboot.com/mos.asp

There is a MAT (Marines Awaiting Training) FB too. I think I saw it on the field radio FB page.

The training may be short but the time waiting to class up may be awhile. Be sure your Marine asks about the work parties.

So what is the official facebook group called? (how do I find it?) My son is /there but will not start for another week. graduated MCT 4/7/15.

Afraid so, mvonhobe, they can always ask but don't hold your breath. I would strongly advise you check out the official facebook pages for this group. When my son went through, I was able to find him in candid shots early on, the classroom ones came later a little over half way through. And as with all official government facebook pages, you do not need an account to view the pictures.

Text from my Marine at MCT, graduating 21 April; assigned to 0651 at 29 Palms.  Understand that's a 19 week class.
Guessing that "short" a class would preclude his wife joining him at 29 Palms during training in base housing?
