MarineParents: Marine Family Network (MFN)

An Outreach Program of MarineParents.com

Hi all :) My boyfriend is currently at MCT for 28 days and afterwards he will head to 29 Palms for MOS school. I've been trying to do a lot of research about the field, however I have had little luck. Can someone please give me a little more incite about this MOS. How long is the schooling? I heard communications MOS schools are normally backed up. Can you still communicate with them through MOS, and is it better than communication at MCT? Any information will help. Thank You so much in advance

On Marine family network you can look up MOS, also look up on internet
My son is there now in that MOS school. It is 8 or 9 weeks long. He had heard it was really backed up but only had to wait about 2 weeks. apparently they start a new class whenever they have enough new Marines there for it so it all depends on how he hits it. He was pretty bored before class started but likes it now. Communication is good. They have their phones and can call and text when they are not in class or standing a watch. Mine has his laptop there too. They are generally free on evenings and weekends unless they have a watch or are studying. It's much better in that regard than MCT.
The link to the school is on our MOS Listings page. Scroll down to Occ Field 06 MOS's and you'll see the link and other links too: http://www.whatsafterboot.com/mos.asp

I believe training is 42 days (weekends off) unless someone has different information.

I just responded to your other post about this in another group, but I'm responding again!

My boyfriend is at MCT right now too -- when does yours finish? Mine heads for 29 Palms for his 0621 Field Radio Operator MOS on September 16. I heard they're backed up a ton, but hopefully it won't be so bad... mine is a Reservist, I wonder if that makes a difference?

Hey Girly!! Mines finish September 23rd! Can I PM you?!

Of course you can! :)

Usually Reservists get put through first.
Thank you for the info, Keri, as always! :)

This is really good information

 Thanks for sharing

My son's starting Field Radio Operator! We're wanting to send a small Care Package and we're not sure of the address. (In Boot Camp he never gave us the same address twice)

The MCCES page has the mailing address toward the top right of the page. Replace the first three lines with his rank, name, and unit (company or class) if you know it.
