Welcome Wendy!
Here are a link that may be of interest.

My best wishes for the remainder of MCT.

Thank you drdana for sharing! Hope your Marine likes Okinawa. Stop in the Okinawa group. There's a great group of people. My best your Marine in his next year there.

Hi, Wendy--MAGTF Planner school is about 4-5 weeks long. So not too bad at all. My son finished at the end of May, 2014 and has been in Okinawa since. So far, so good!

My daughter's MOS is MAGTF. She has 10 days left at MCT. She said she will be in Virginia but doesn't know how long her school is. Can anyone help?

Thank  you, that's good to know. We're in Orlando, so too far away for any practical help. It's great that you are so close to your son - at least for a few weeks.

We live in the Hampton Roads area--Little Creek is a 20 or so minute drive from us. If your Marine ever needs anything, you can know there is "family" nearby. Sent you a friend's request if you are so inclined.

Thanks,1~ Keri, for the link--good info. Appreciate how prompt and resourceful you always are!

I talked to my son last night. He really likes Little Creek. He said the class starts on Monday & it looks like there will be 8 in the class - 3 from SOI East & the rest from SOI West. His comparisons between the East & West Marines were pretty funny, but I'm sure that goes both ways.

From reading this, looks like 28 days training.

Best wishes to your Marines through their MOS training.

Hello, Bensmom,
I think my son is one of the 2 others you mentioned who was switched from METOC. I think he is still under the impression that his MOS did not change, but from what I have researched, it appears that METOC is no longer his destination. Not sure why he was switched(it occurred at the last minute the day before MCT grad when he received official orders), but I hope this will be a useful, challenging and enjoyable MOS for him. Do you know how long this school lasts and what it entails?

Hello all,

My son graduated from MCT this morning and is on his way to Little Creek for MOS school. His MOS is MAGTF Planning Specialist. That's what he signed up for, but he's with 2 others who were switched from METOC. Looks like that's common from reading the other comments.
