Our son is in Virginia for Security Forces training.  Is there any where we can go to connect with others whose Marines are there?  THANKS!

Hi mommajilly. I know there is a group for those with Marines with high security billets. I'm not sure about those still in training. Sorry that I can't help with your question, but I have one for you. Is your son interested in FAST or RTT? My poolee son wants Recon but his second choice is Security Forces-RTT in particular. I was just interested in feedback from someone who has/wants RTT. I've gotten great feedback on Recon from this site. Everyone here is fantastic.

Please thank your son for serving.

Jenny

Hi jilmom-My son actually has more training after security forces school and his job is not security forces.  So, I can't answer your question.  He just needs this training with the job he has.  I can tell you that my son was also highly interested in recon before boot and was going to request it during ITB (school of infantry training).  We had a Marine stay with us on weekends during ITB that is in Recon and it is extremely difficult training.  I wish your son the best!  And...thank you for your gratitude to our son.  I will pass it along and THANK YOU to your son for being willing to serve.  It is a special person who is willing to serve their country!  I am sorry I wasn't more helpful.  I hope your son gets the information he needs to make the best decision for himself.

Can someone direct me to the site with those Marines with high security jobs?  If someone can, I would appreciate it.  Otherwise, I will try and find my way around.  :)  THANKS!
Try the group "For Parents of Marines with High Security Billets" on this website. Good luck!

My son just started SOI, but will be going to Virginia afterwards for training.  He is Special Forces.  I am still learning all I can about it....

Good luck RKE to your son with SOI!

Best wishes with your family in the future as well.  We pray for all of our marines and their families.

Thank you.......

I think I can tell you this on here...if your husband is going to security forces training after SOI then he will go to Virginia.  It is a 5 week course.  But...first week is admin stuff.  So, plan on 6 weeks total.  I hope that helps. & plan on him leaving RIGHT after SOI graduation.  We had about 20 minutes with our son after graduation before they took him to the airport.
I think I can say this here...training on different weapons...pistol, shotgun, etc.  Also a lot of classroom instruction.

The High Security Billets group is not very informative. I asked generic questions like is the training base really in the middle of nowhere and are there Libo day shuttles ? and they told me no one could reply. Very hush hush. I was just hoping to get information for him;)

Just curious, what is the best resource for me to find out a little more about security forces? Recently found out this is what my husband will train for after SOI (he is currently at SOI) and I've done a few Google searches but I haven't really found much, does anyone know where I can get a little more info? Just looking for some general stuff, no specific questions as of yet.
