Welcome to this MOS group Lorena.  Not sure if there are new members to this group but here is some information from a few years back on class size and classing up.  This is way back on this comment wall, pg. 14.

See SgtDel's comment:

Great news getting classed up and ready to learn and train. My best wishes and thanks for all he will be doing.

My son's platoon just got picked up Jun 27th after a 3 month wait.  Anyone else experiencing that?

The good thing about RA is your Marine is home. We always love that, and they usually do too. They can earn points toward promotion as well. The bad thing at this point in their Military career is they are still in innitial training and a month at home may not be the best thing. One of my sons has large muscles therefore has a "weight problem". He always has to tape out. During RA he pushes that tape measurement. Just like after they got braces the orthodontist gave them a retainer. If they don't use it after a while they will start reverting back to old habits. Were Moms and Dads not Drill Instructors or Detachment Gunny's; were not the retainers needed for the completion of their innital training. I keep telling my Marines when they are home that they need to seriously PT even when they are home. However, I'm not going to enforce it because I want them to come home everytime they get a chance.
Enjoy them every chance you get.

Danny...he will know this Friday for sure about leave...he has a lot of accrued days so hopefully he will be able to use them!  I know that it is not a for sure thing, but we are hoping for some "at home" time with him before he goes to PDS.  Thank you for the info...

regards, Lisa

Happy geek don't be so sure he will get leave between MOS and POS. It's very possible but not necessarily a rule. My son went straight to Camp LaJune from Dam Neck. My other son also went directly from his MOS school to Cherry Point. However, the Marines that were going to Hawaii or overseas were allowed to have leave. My intel boy knew where he was going about two weeks before graduation. My other boy didn't know where his POS would be until a week AFTER he completed MOS school.

I've been talking to out son since arrived this morning and he said he might not do RA since his class may start in Sept and he needs to do some prep courses be for his school startes. I told him not to worry about RA and just get through his classes.

Our son called last night to tell us that he really wants us to come for graduation on Aug 14th...originally he told us not to as we had just visited in June.  I am beyond excited to go back to VA Beach and see him graduate.  It will be a quick trip but so worth it, in my opinion.  He will come back to CA for his leave and that will be great too!!  Also very anxious about what's ahead for him, as we all are, I am sure!

He only arrived at Dam Neck in April, classed up in May, and now already through in August!  The best thing he ever did is to NOT leave for RA when he first a job in CO's office and quickly classed up!

He was a little p.o.'ed at me for not supporting RA immediately but I had heard that it is better to stay and "learn how to be a Marine" even if it was a long wait...he has met amazing friends and loves VA!

Good luck to all the Marines in MOS 0231!

First off it's the Marine Corps so don't get your hopes up. Having said that it's a really good chance he will get RA. My son got RA twice while he waited for his class to start. One word of warning is if his command at Dam Neck saiy no FONT have a SGTMJOR call them to push the issue. My sons recruiter had their SGTMJOR push the no to a yes. My son is a recruiting magnet with 9 guys under his belt. However, when he got back it was very hard on him. They don't mind you in RA if they bless it but just don't push it if they say no.
