Comment by mesjulia on May 10, 2012 at 6:25pm Ugh! My head is spinning! So many things to think about and plan for! Is there a check list or itinerary on events going on during graduation?
Sarge I wish you and your family all the best during this time. Like Nimokana said, you might just want to check with a chaplain for advice. Best wishes!

Comment by Nimokana on May 1, 2012 at 9:09am Sarge, I think you're making a very wise decision for your son, as difficult as it may be. He may wonder why Osman isn't writing him letters in boot, but he needs all of his focus to be on his training. Something to think about later ... I don't know when you plan on telling him, but it might be helpful to contact his chaplain or yours for advice. If you plan on going to Family Day and Graduation, it's already going to be super emotional for everyone and tough for you to hold back. He'll need to get through graduation. My heart breaks for all of you and will continue to pray for peace and healing. Bless all of you. Semper Fi.
Comment by Sarge (Lynn) on May 1, 2012 at 5:12am I thank all of you from the bottom of my heart for helping me remain confident and have peace that I have made the right decision not to tell my son. Especially since he is in phase 1. As far as his friends go, I only gave his address to his closest friends that I trust and they know better than to inform him especially through a letter (then they will have me to deal with and that ain't always pretty). My son loved Osman so much, they even told each other when they hung up the phone "love ya bro." He will be so overwhelmed, shocked, and devistated that this could cause injury, and well I don't even want to think about it. I see no point. Gotta get him through training....then take it from there. Thank yall so much for helping me and please keep us in your prayers as I will all of you. Semper Fi
Comment by Shellebelle (Michelle) on April 30, 2012 at 10:58pm Me personally wouldn't contact the DI, but that is truly just my feelings. I think the DI would not want the recruit to be distracted either Donna from wi did bring up a good point about the possibility of someone else telling him so that is something to think about. I just don't personally see anything good coming out of telling him right now. Sarge, I will keep my energy going that you make the decision that seems right to you and leaves you with a peaceful heart. My prayers and thoughts go out to you.
