Hello everyone!
Just checking in to see how you all are doing!!
I can hardly believe that our Graduation trip is coming up on Tuesday!! I'm not certain if the time has flown by or dragged on...but I can tell you, for certain, that you all here have made all the difference in the world :) Thankyou from the bottom of my heart!! <3 Hugs!

The graduation experience is great isn't it!! Hope your Marine is enjoying his PDS and liking his job (MOS).

My best wishes for your other son through his recruit training. The boot groups are a little different now than what you experienced going through with your first.
See the Battalion groups for each Company group. (Graduation Groups for MCRD San Diego):

Has he shipped yet or still enjoying time at home with him? Remember, there is the Poolee group too to prepare him and you. I'm sure big brother shares his advice too.

We had a great time at our new Marine's graduation! Thanks to MFN for all the information and support!
My son had relayed very little info to me before he left (I live in a different state) and I was totally confused and new to the whole thing.
Thanks again!
Now his brother has joined and this time we will go to San Diego. Something new to learn :)

Our marine graduated in December 2014 and we stayed at the Days Inn.  It was nice but we picked it because it was about 5 minutes - a straight shot - to get to Parris Island.  We ate at Carolina Tavern - a little expensive but worth the money.  Hope this helps.

Thank you so much. Do you know what time the motivational run is??? Don't want to miss a thing!

Wednesday is a family orientation day, you will NOT see your Marine or be able to make contact with them. Thursday is Family day, and Friday is Graduation. Gates open at 6am Thursday and Friday not sure about Wednesday. Many use Wednesday to make a "dry run" to get the lay of the depot and see how long it takes to get from their hotel to PI. Go early Thursday and Friday you wont regret it and be prepared to be impressed beyond words.

Newmarinemom, my son went in the same time in august of last year. He was also in 2nd rct B, pltn 2093. I waited until Oct to book my hotel, flight aND car. It was an amazing graduatuon. Try to go for the three days. My son took us to the yellow footprints and the depot . You are not allowed in there. BUT He Stood OUT side THE Door IN His CAMO outfit. In between the marine logo. Makes for an awesome picture!! We were the same way didn't know what to expect. Here's my experience, don't worry make your plans and get to the depot early, especially the run!! That's cool!! And just go with the flow and enjoy. It's a memorable experience. Who is his drill instructor? You have not probably heard from him yet. My son was Sgt staggs..
Now my son is stationed in japan for two years. Been there for a month. He likes it alot. Best of luck. Semper fi

good morning newmarinemom

it is recommended that you don't book your plane until about 4 weeks prior to graduation. make sure of the airlines cancellation/change policy. you might want to consider purchasing the travel insurance. as for hotels most have relaxed cancellation/change fees if notified early.again be sure to check your specific hotels policy.
