| Rededication Ceremony for Hospital Corpsman Memorial

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – A rededication ceremony for the newly reconstructed Hospital Corpsman Memorial will be held at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton Dec. 12 at 11 a.m.

The memorial is a 28 foot high statue of three Navy Hospital Corpsmen dragging an injured Marine up a hill to safety. The original statue was built by local Oceanside, Calif., resident, Raul Avina Sr., who was a Marine wounded at the Battle of Iwo Jima in WWII, to honor the service and sacrifices of Navy Hospital Corpsmen everywhere.

Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton Weather Advisory

A Hazardous Weather Outlook for a winter storm throughout Southern California and our surrounding counties forecasting extremely gusty (Gale Force) winds, high surf, high rip current risk, moderate to heavy rain from Tuesday, Dec. 2 through Thursday Dec. 4, 2014.
Periods of heavy rain will increase the Flash Flood Potential.

Local flooding in the usual low lying areas across the base should be anticipated during periods of increased or heavy rains. Burned areas and steep terrain are susceptible to mudslides, debris flows and erosion issues which could impact infrastructure, roadways and training areas. Visibility will ultimately be reduced increasing the risk to driver safety.

My son has been at Pulgas for three years and has always had Verizon.  Most of the time it's perfectly ok, but two of the many barracks rooms he's lived in had spotty service.  Verizon service up north at MCT is horrible.  I don't know how other carriers compare.

T-mobile is good. Depending on what part of base he's on, will determine the best coverage. My son is at horno and Verizon is spotty there. Before he got there a mortar man group accidentally blew up the Verizon Not sure if it's been fixed yet. My son has sprint and is happy with it. He lives in town(Oceanside) and will call me on his way home and there's no problems.

Thanks, TigersGirl!

We have Verizon and have been happy with it, but I've met people with pretty much all providers and haven't heard any complaints about service.

Our Marine will be going to Pendleton next week from our East Coast location. What cell phone service(s) is(are) the best? Is there good TMobile coverage? Is there a better one?

Hello folks,

Please check out this link to vote for a Sgt. in the Marine Corps for American Hero of the Year. Deadline for voting is just a few days (Sept. 6) from now.  The Sgt. is one of five finalists for American Hero of the Year and the only Marine::

Thank you!

You can check with your sons FRO. They may know of organizations where you can volunteer.
