MarineParents: Marine Family Network (MFN)

An Outreach Program of MarineParents.com

Finally going to be reunited with my husband after a year and a half!!!! We've decided on apartments called Canyon Club in Oceanside. Anyone there? Know the area, can give me helpful hints? I think that it's close to highways. I haven't read to many bad things about the apartments...other then normal apartment complaints! I absolutely can not wait! I'm driving for Oklahoma on December 19th!

TG, thanks for all the help you've been! I hope to get a job on base in some type of youth or family services program, or in a child development center.:)I've been doing my research and from what you say it sounds like I'm informing myself well, because I know what your talking about!! :)
Mccscp is where you got to applying or jobs n base. I've been trying to get a job with the CDC here and it's EXTREMLY competitive. It's the highest starting pay civilian job on base. I've been trying for months every time one is avialable and nothing. I've have extensive work with kids too. It's hard, but good luck!

Emily, We are from Edmond and we have visited our daughter a few times when she was stationed on CP. In fact our daughter is moving back to CP from Okinawa in December. Oceanside is a lot faster pace than OKC , I'm sure you will get the hang of it in no time, they do drive a lot faster on the highway, that was fun and the shopping centers are always very crowded.  I never felt unsafe while visiting Oceanside but then we never drove around late at night. Parts of Oceanside have some very nice homes. Sorry, I don't done much about the apartments off base as my daughter has always lived on base.

From what my daughter said the other day, the CDC's on base are full, she was hoping they had a spot for her daughter when she gets there.  The CDC needs to hire you and Dakota.

Thanks Lea, I have also visited Oceanside a couple of times..my first time I drove from SD to CP myself, so I get the fast pace you speak of! haha Sounds like they do need to hire us, I have my bachelors degree (actually from UCO, GO Bronchos! ha!) in Family life and Child Development. I know that doesn't mean much, but I'm confident I can find something to occupy my time either off or on base! =)

Oh, and Lea how exciting your daughter will be back in the states!! Have her get ahold of me if she needs a nanny!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
