OK, don't laugh but what is a UIP link. I know he is a leatherneck. I have no clue what unit or battalion. I know he is in what is referred to as a detachment unit. He is with a marine air wing 274 so I think that is the link I want and if that is the case then I do the FRO and have sent her an email.

No problem! :) All these units and battalions can get confusing. Adapt and overcome... it's what we do. :)
Your Marine may be attached to a battalion but there are other sub-units under the command of that battalion.
Also, if your Marine is moved to another unit, you will be discontinued from that eMarine page and have to be added to the new one.

Thanks, Keri! Sorry for the last name. :( My experience with the Marines is lots of waiting and uncertainty. Just have to go along with what comes next.

It's my understanding, each unit may have its own FRO. Once you know what unit your Marine is attached, you can contact the FRO for that unit. Check the UIP links listed above.
Hopefully you hear back soon Donna.

my son was in helicoptor repair, so Judy R was for that. so, disregard that name. The hazardous waste is something my son volunteered to do, so is not part of the 29 group which is why I am not sure whether he'll be deployed or not. For me, messages from the family readiness officer were most helpful. there was information on e-marine, but it was not as relevant to my needs. If I were you, I would message the names of the readiness officers you have heard and try to get them to respond to you. Sorry for the added confusion! Good luck!

Well......I am confused on who the readiness officer is. I have two names and this is the third. I only know he is going for security. I am not real sure I want to know what that is or does. I do know he has no training in processing hazardous waste.

He has registered us on emarine but I can't get past the initial log in as it says the website security certificate is not verified so therefore I can't proceed. It is frustrating.

Dear Mamma_Bear51, This group doesn't get much action. I had joined the facebook page for this group, but there was not much going on there either. You will get information from the family readiness officer, Judy R. You can contact her, but your son will need to give permission for her to include you on her mailing lists. You get more information than you need sometimes, but it is good to be informed. My son was in this group last year and went to Afghanistan. It was 7 long months for me. Now he has a temporary assignment in another group. He wonders if he will be pulled back to this group for their deployment or stay with what he is doing (processing hazardous waste for the base). My son heard that part of the group will be on a ship and another part is going back to Afghanistan. Time will tell!

My son is a member of MAG 29 and looking at a deployment soon. We are new to the military and new to the Marines or any branch for that matter. We are really green and looking for a lot of information.

You're very welcome! It never hurts to follow many groups to connect and share.

My thanks to your Marine for his service and all he is doing.
