An Outreach Program of MarineParents.com
my son is currently in T.B.S.. He is former enlisted as well. Even though he had his degree, he wanted to start out enlisted. I guess, to get the full experience.
Our Marine left today for OCS.....these emotions are reminiscent of the day he left 10 years ago for MCRD.
I know exactly how you are feeling. Interestingly, this part is however a lot tougher, with requirements on a whole other level. While we were writing our Marine in the first couple of weeks, he did not even have time to read most of his mail, let alone write back. But eventually, he can call on the weekends. I wish your Marine good luck, and to keep his head in the "zone".
OCS is boot camp 'plus'. An officer can't ask anything of his Marines that he is not willing to do himself and they do their best to make sure each candidate is capable of leading in all circumstances before he/she is allowed to commission. It's a tough course and you won't hear from him much but, as I said before, he will stand a little taller in the end. Darrell and Diana, I know how proud you must be of your Marines. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
