I too had a number veterans who proudly served in different branches during different conflicts (my son is the first Marine). My grandfather served in the Navy during WWII on the USS Essex. Thankfully he made it home safe. It's a day we should never forget and continue to honor all who served. Thank you for your post.

Thank you for reminding me. I thought about it yesterday several time, but today it slipped out of my head. Thanks again.

Echoing your sentiments- they truly are THE GREATEST GENERATION.  I did a boy scout hike of the Valley Forge Battlefield yesterday.  At the end, we compared the sacrifices those men and women endured at the beginning of our nation- to give us our freedom- to sacrifices of the men and women at Pearl Harbor- to ensure our freedoms continued  We observed a moment of silence for them (even though it was a day early).  After we were done, one of the scouts thanked me for doing that.  He said his father, grandfather, and great grandfather served in different branches of the service during WWII, Vietnam, and the first Gulf War.  I told him he was truly blessed to have such positive role models in his family!

I want to say THANK YOU to my Parents, (DEC 7th) we lost 2,400 Sailors, Marines, and Solders at Pearl Harbor...this is what lead to our entry into WW11. I can not comprehend the sacrifices that generation made for our Freedom.  As a Veteran, I an humbled.

I peeked on your page, MamaMarine2014 & you are saying he is going to ITB. They have more access to their phones at ITB than at MCT.

But I would still let him decide if he wanted you to foot the upgrade or if he is going to get his own.

MCT West is a little different about phone use then MCT East. While phones are secured after pick up at MCT East, some members whose Marines attended MCT West, stated their Marines kept their phones, just could not use them while training. Phone use is at the discretion of each command. My Marine went through MCT West and I didn't hear a word the first two weeks then a few texts and pics after that just before graduation.
Your Marine would probably like to take his phone to contact you once he moves on to his MOS location where Marines get liberty evenings and weekends.

Here is your next MCT stop:

Then on to the MOS forums:

Best wishes with prayers as he completes the last few weeks of boot to earn his Eagle, Globe and Anchor,

MamaMarine2014, I would let him set the tone on that one. Especially since you never know where his PDS is going to be. Just sit tight until you have a better feel for what is what.

Well don't know what I should do about the phone then.  Don't know if I will see him after SOI, before he goes to his PDS.

MamaMarine2014, You'll probably hear from your Marine about two to three times max while he's at MCT. Once he arrives at MOS, you'll hear more. Once he begin his MOS schooling, you won't hear from him every day as he'll have studying to do, but a wee bit more than MCT.

Just think it's better than boot camp communication ~ that's for sure!
