boconnel, he won't be just sitting around. There are work parties and he needs to complete some MCI's. Waiting training is part of the process. He should see what he can volunteer for, find out who his battle buddy is and settle in.
As far as the not getting recognition for the race event, that is way out of my scope. I'd ask 1~Ian's Dad(Jeff) or LazyK about that.
I'd like to ask the group for some guidance. My son is waiting to class up for his final school before being released to the fleet and has been bumped several times. He is now the last in the group that arrived together to be waiting. He is not scheduled to class up until August, so he basically has to wait around for three months. He worked with his recruiting office to request an RA assignment back home while he waits, but just learned that his request was denied. Just before he left Pensacola he was asked to assist in setting up and breaking down a road race. All who participated got recognition and some volunteer points, except him. Somehow he was overlooked and since it was his last day in Pensacola he felt he couldn't pursue it. Until he completes his next training he is not in the fleet and believes he cannot talk to a career advisor about his situation. He is getting very down on his situation feeling he is repeatedly getting the short end of the stick. I have suggested that he go speak with his sergeant, but he doesn't see the point of it.Does anyone have any suggestions? I feel that he is wasting a lot of time just sitting around doing virtually nothing for three months and I know it would drive me nuts if I was in that situation. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
Thank you, Dianne, for the moving tributes to honor our Fallen Heroes.
Let me add a couple more thoughts about Memorial Day:
very moving video tribute
Remember the Fallen this Memorial Day.Here is a speech by Marine Lt.Gen John Kelly, exemplifying those who are honored this day.
Happy Mother's Day
Can never say enough thanks for what our Marines do...
