If your Marine is a high security billet you may post here and share with other families, but you may NOT identify your Marine's billet or unit. Being in here together puts you in a group of high security; that's as "connected" with your Marine's unit as you can get and remain OpSEC compliant. High Security Billets include, but are not limited to, Recon, Force Recon, MARSOC, Intel, Sniper, Scout Sniper, Presidential Guard Detail, FAST, JUMP, PSD, Embassy Security Group and Anti-Terrorism Bn.

Wiskey: We have groups for just about every USMC unit. You can find them here http://marinefamilynetwork.com/page/usmc-units or you can enter the unit in the search box here http://marinefamilynetwork.com/groups
Some units do not have their own group because the whole unit is considered a High Security Billet... such as the Recon Bn's. If your son's unit has a group you should certainly feel free to post there and connect with other families... just remember that since your son is in a HSB you can't mention what his billet is.

When I found out my son had made it through his HSB mos training, I asked him about what he had been told about OpSec/ComSec. His briefing was adequate, but we discussed that "adequate" is not enough!
I would encourage EVERYONE to look at the USMC produced OpSec/ComSec video, It did scare the "you know what" out of me. G has removed most things from his FB page, and has not posted there in several months. Now we have to spend some time talking with his wife.
Yes, i think the Corps, and all branches, have not done a good job on teaching OpSec/ComSec. Since I worry about my own family, we have discussed at depth what it means and why.
I do not know about your son's group, but there is a new website eMarine.com that the FRO can sign you up for. It will be for official communication, and everyone in there will have been vetted by the Marine.
At least we all understand why the security in this list is there. And we can provide some support fo each other.
God bless, Pau & LaLani, VPP of Pfc M & Cpl G
Comment by Wiskey on November 9, 2011 at 8:29pm Hello HSB Group,
It has been nearly 9 months since I visited MarineParents.com, and was surprised that the site has changed quite a bit since then. Shoot, I'm not even sure I am in the right place now.
My son, Cpl Ez, is deploying soon, and I am looking for others (parents, family members, etc) to chat/blog with throughout his unit's deployment. I visited his unit's web page, including the Family Readiness page, and neither has been updated in over a year! How do I find those individuals or a better site if we cannot mention units here? Are there specific unit blogs other than this generic "high security" group? I find this a bit humorous, as our Marines are posting more info on Facebook than one is allowed to here. I am a retired Marine myself and can honestly say that I was shocked to learn, in the last two days, that my son has not even had an OPSEC brief. I had to explain it to him after one of his posts on Facebook was a clear violation. And he is in one of these so-called "high security" units! USMC must be slipping.

Comment by Tiny1pj on October 28, 2011 at 6:14pm I will look through and see what I can find. I never used to delete messages, but have been doing so recently to get more space.
As soon as I can, I will send out the same message. Thanks!
God bless, Paul & LaLani
