Comment by nana on April 10, 2012 at 8:09pm You should not expect to hear from him for a long time if that. My grandson sent maybe 3 postcards out to his mom and dad but no one else. They are totally immersed in training, training, and more training. If they are going to make it through boot camp, they have to stay on point and all of the time. One thing that his dad did that he could receive was to send down some pre-addressed , postage applied postcards. He is busy becoming part of his new "family"..this is a very tough time for all of you, so hang in there..I worried constantly and when he was supposed to have leave at the end and they didn't get released until late in the day, i was heartsick. He may get a call off now and then, and i think it's Sundays? Keep praying and we all here will pray for your recruit and his success. My grandson made it through boot earning his first stripe before graduation, he passed his MCT training and is now in MOS and almost finished with that. It is not clear if he will go for more training? or be deployed. So Grandma, it's not YOU! and I will tell you this, once this long 3 months is over and you see your grandson again, you will not believe the magnificent change that will take place in his physique, his attitude and his loyalty to his "brothers" and to the Corp. SEMPER FI! OHRAH!

Comment by nana on March 8, 2012 at 8:26am Geez, I am sorry, I don't know the exact time frame, I'm going to say almost a year? But they had other things going on, lost a little angel-baby girl 2 days before she was due to come into this world. They are in recovery mode now and preparing to move to Fl from SC. As my grand sons Dad says who was a Sgt in the Corp, the Corp takes it's own time. Will keep your grand daughter in prayer!
Comment by angelgram on March 7, 2012 at 7:21pm Thanks Nana for your reply... How long after the surgeries did you nephew have to wait to be Medically discharged?
Comment by nana on March 7, 2012 at 7:07pm So sorry to hear about your grand daughter! My nephew was injured in Afghanistan , went through several surgeries and did not respond well , he has been medically discharged after a very long time. Hopefully, her injuries are not permanent and she will be able to finish up with her MOS and off to do what her heart desires!
Comment by angelgram on March 7, 2012 at 3:00pm My Grandaughter is in Pensacola FL for her MOS last September, she injured her knee, had her Medboard papers sent to DC 3 months ago and hasn't heard yet what her status is!!! She really wanted to make a career in the Marines, anyone else with a or gone thru a situation like this?
Comment by janecody on March 7, 2012 at 1:31pm Grandson Kipp graduates March 30th from Camp Pendleton (2141)- I will be there with his Dad and sister - can't wait.
My Grandson graduates tomorrow March 8th 2012 from his MOS training at Camp Pendleton. Then he will be leaving to go to Camp Lejeune, NC to join a unit there with the Assault Amphibious Vehicle team which he has been training for in his MOS. I live in San Diego and have enjoyed having him at Camp Pendleton and being able to visit him on weekends and taking him places since most weekends they have free time to do what they want. I will really miss having him here, tomorrow will be a sad day for me and grandpa.
