Peaches one mom said that her Marine said that they did not even get their dog tags until Phase III and that you could wear it on the same type chain as the dog tags. They all got them from the MCX and did not wear them until Marine week. He also said they all wore them on a separate chain (chain like the dog tag chain) because if you put them on the same chain it could cause the chain to break and you would lose them all. Some did put on the same chain though.

Diana - I understand and sometime the grandparents post more often. Your recruit board can tell you a little about your trip but I can tell you a little as well. Most of your walking is on Family Day. Plan to be on base early that morning (like 5:30am) to watch the MOTO RUN. Then you will go to the all weather facilty where they will release your Marine for the day. He will be ready to eat - ALL Day lol. That's why you may do a lot of walking, but you can drive from place to place. Then the day of graduation, again arrive early so you can get a good seat. Take a blanket for the bleachers, sometimes they are damp and cold and you may sit there a while before graduation starts - especially if you want to get a good seat. If you wait too long you may be left standing or have a bad seat.

Would love to hear from more grandmothers on here feel a little out of place with the parents. My grandchild Cody is the only one I have and probably only one I,ll ever have so he is extremely important to me. I worry everyday about how he's doing and miss him so very much. I am attending his graduation it is almost 7 hour drive there I have arthritis in both knees and have COPD and fibromyalga I can walk fine but I understand there will be a lot of walking I,m going to give it my best shot and hope it doesn't hinder the family if I can,t make it all the way thru any suggestions or comments would be appreciated greatly by the time I get there will be in a lot of pain

Thank you, but my second thought is wait until we see him on family day, since he will be home for 10 days then him and I can go shopping.

Peaches I know that generally they are allowed to have religious materials and am aware of Marines that wore them when they were recruits BUT your recruit is always your best source of information. Ask him in a letter before you send it.
