Hi PJ and welcome!  I checked your profile page and see you foundyour grandson's graduation group - terrific!

Be sure to check out the Discussion Forum there - just under the navy t-shirt (his battalion color).  Look at the topic titles and click on any to read and/or post in them.  You'll see one for his platoon and other titles will general info for all.

With pride in and prayers for all who serve our country,

I am the Grandfather of Recruit Caleb L., MI, Lima Company, Platoon 3246, .  I am not sure this is the best place to start and/or stay connected while he is in Basic Training.  I would like to connect with other Parents, Grandparents, Relatives, Friends of the Recruits in Platoon 3246.  I have and will be praying for safety, maturity, perserverance, and committment to excellence as well as other characteristics that we want our young Men and Women to gain as a Marine.

Interested in a live chat on MFN?
Tracy, founder of MarineParents.com, Inc., has started a topic asking for your input. We are able to man a live chat directly on MFN. It would be a general chat, moderated, of course. Please share your thoughts with Tracy by going either to the home page where you'll see the topic started in the center, just above the 'do you shop at Amazonsmile' logo (which if you check that out it will donate .5% of everything you spend at Amazon to MarineParents when you check out - it's simple to set up !! ) :

http://marinefamilynetwork.com/

Here is the direct link to the topic:
http://marinefamilynetwork.com/

Go try it. It's like an instant chat feature running in the lower right hand corner. You don't need java for it to run. You can keep your boards open. You can choose when you want to be in the chat room and when you don't.

You guys know how it works .... I know you have chased that GREEN DOT before !! Same concept. So log in and chat away !! You can clear your chat history. Mods will be available to answer questions. We think you will like it it. It's up and running right now so give it try !
Thank you!

Haven't been on here for a very long time.  Guess I feel the need to connect with grandparents now that my grandson is deployed.  Was very hard to see him get on that airplane and leave knowing he was deploying to a hot spot.  Very limited communication now.  Have truly learned what praying without ceasing means now.

Hope everyone is doing well. It's been a long winter here in WV ! Calling for rain the next few days but that's better than snow and ice. Soon our local Poolees should be able to get outside to train in warmer weather. Yay ! Check out the blog below & order a Poolee kit for your local recruiting station. Help them & their families find MarineFamilyNetwork & the support that you found :)

WDBILLY is right make sure you check in at the gate and have a valid inspection sticker (if required for your state), as well as current proof of insurance and registration in addition to your drivers license and they will issue you a pass for your vehicle for the days that you will be visiting. They do random vehicle searches.

I didn't need anything at the gate at Parris Island other than my Driver's License! The Marine guards did not ask for anything else, each day, for 3 days!

Thanks Denita.....when he left Ft Meade the co ordinator told us the recruit would send us invitations to facilitate getting on base. So we were expecting one...:-)

There should be a phone number on your order sheet. When I ordered t-shirts you picked them up at PI when you arrived for graduation. A couple items shipped to the house but the shirts and the etched crystal picture had to be picked up. I didn't order invitations. If you aren't sure look for the phone number on your order sheet and give them a call.

My best to you and yours,
Denita (1~steel_walk42)
