| Rededication Ceremony for Hospital Corpsman Memorial

MARINE CORPS BASE CAMP PENDLETON, Calif. – A rededication ceremony for the newly reconstructed Hospital Corpsman Memorial will be held at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton Dec. 12 at 11 a.m.

The memorial is a 28 foot high statue of three Navy Hospital Corpsmen dragging an injured Marine up a hill to safety. The original statue was built by local Oceanside, Calif., resident, Raul Avina Sr., who was a Marine wounded at the Battle of Iwo Jima in WWII, to honor the service and sacrifices of Navy Hospital Corpsmen everywhere.

I am so glad you had a great time, I love that base!!

Just a few reminders or it maybe new to some: there are OpSec Rules to keep our Marines and Docs Safe.

Here they are in a nutshell.

Dont share deployment dates (use seasons

No camp locations: No cities, No towns

No convoy routes

No detailed information about missions: No procedures, no equipment, no tatics

No Personal transactions: Pay, etc

No rumors about future operations

Dont discuss lack of equipment

Be careful of revealing pictures, with landmarks, Dont give away locations

Dont talk about causalities (this means injuries too) until they are posted by DOD

My trip to CL was great!  It is so big, no wonder my son can not get around without a car.  We did all the stores and I was able to find a Corpsman mom shirt but not much else. Boooo. LOL

We did the aquarium in Pine Knolls, the beach and some sight seeing along the way.  Such a wonderful time to spend with him.  He treated his mama so well.

No date on his Deploy yet,, was moved from the 6th to sometime this month. He is so ready to just go, he said the sooner he leaves he can start the countdown to come home!

Thank you.. I told my son and he said he will take me there!  I am so wanting my Corpsman Mom stuff!
