You may have noticed two letters that show up frequently on the matrix...L and F or Lead and Follow.

Here is a great explanation (from 1~Nanny) of the L and F on matrix:

Each company is split into Lead & Follow series.  For example if there are 6 platoons in a company, the first 3 platoons are Lead series and the last 3 are Follow series.  The reason for this split is because of company size, for example the entire company cannot fit into a classroom for schooling. If learning in a classroom, Lead series will take the morning and the Follow series will do the same thing in the afternoon or vice versa. Same thing with outdoor activities. Whatever Lead series completes in the morning, Follow series will complete in the afternoon or vice versa. They are usually assigned to platoons in the order in which they arrive.

Hope this helps,

Lazy - chun
Give thanks for the explantion, I am so anxious to see how he is doing. And wanted to praise him as a form of motivation. I did anyway for little things like surviving the initial 3 days, surviving the bathroom situation, ect...I'm just so excited to mail this letter! Have a blessed day, to every one!

faith not fear

platoon assignment is a mystery of the Corps. Some say it is by how they arrive at the depot. some say it is by how they line up on the "yellow foot prints". The only thing I can almost guarantee it is NOT by initial physical test. A training battalion is made up of four companies. The exception being 4th battalion, which is the female training battalion it only has three. Each week a new company starts. here is a link to how the training battalions are configured

I just received my form letter with my son's address. My question is this, does the battalion and platoon numbers tell how well they did during their initial physical test? Or no? I'm just wondering how well he did. Does anyone know?

It means dental work. They have a dental exam when they arrive and if they have any work that needs to be done it will be done on the days with the little teeth icons.

the" tooth" is the days they will receive dental evaluations/procedures. The Corps is proactive on dental care they would rather address problems now in a controlled setting, rather than later when the conditions might be less than ideal.

What does the little tooth mean on the training matrix?
