It's hard enough to understand what recruits will be doing even when there is some description, but the schedule I'm looking at says nothing but F1 for Sunday and F2 for Monday (he just got there a few days ago, so I'm lost about what these terms mean).

F = Forming. They are getting all there physical needs taken care of, dental exams, learning the ropes, on Fri they met their DIs & have been Formed into Platoons. Your letter will be written as to his address & hopefully you will get it by next Fri.

Thank you Dianne!

Dianne is right.  It's a processing period.  You'll want to get acquainted with our Boot Camp informational pages, if you haven't already.  They will answer many of your questions.  Click on the links on the left side, for much more:

Thank you Martha.  I had already read most of the links to the left before asking questions.   i've learned I lot, but some things I just wasn't able to locate on the site.  They might be there, but I just couldn't find info such as what F1 and F2 stood for.
