Hi Keri, my wife and I are curious about the mail. We received an initial letter from our son postmarked March 15, he shipped on March 6, the same date that we also received a form letter giving us our son' mailing address and the ok to write to him. We used Sandboxx and have written him 4 letters, the first one on that same March 15. We've yet to receive a second letter from him. Is mail held for the first several weeks or is our son just very busy and/or glad to be away from home? :) Thanks!

Welcome Dawn and chanamiata to the beginning of your recruit's journey!

Here is the 1st Battalion forum with lots of information links (like a link to the matrix to follow along with training).  Read and explore!  This Battalion forum also includes the Charlie Co. group.

It's best to wait for the form letter to send your letters. This will assure that you have the correct address. The form letter usually arrives 7-10 days from when they arrived at the Depot.

Hugs to you all with best wishes for your recruits!

I am so nervous for her.  I hope to have her info to write to her by the end of the week.  She has wanted this for a long time and it has been a long journey already for us.  She wasn't supposed to ship until May but a spot opened up and she took it.  Miss her already!

Yes, my son is in boot camp right now. His platoon will graduate June 2

Hawkeye, your new Rct is very very busy. Plus they only get 1 hour/day, maybe a little more on Sunday, in which to take care of personal matters. This is not much time to square away gear, make sure your footlocker is inspection ready, shower and squeeze in a bit of studying. I got 7 letters from my son when he went through Boot. Those were the most precious 7 letter I ever received. lol  I, in return, mailed a letter every 2 days. So write, write, write.
