Sometimes the calls don't get completed for a variety of reasons.  It is an odd thing about that first phone call.. recruits are nervous, with lack of sleep, and using a phone on a wall lots of yelling and a line of recruits standing behind them. Sometimes the recruit simply forgets or misdials the phone and somebody else gets to hear him recite the script!
Or, in the alternative, perhaps a recruit calls another number such as a girlfriend or someone else?

However, you should get the form letter around the end of next week and can start the letter-writing!

Hope this helps! It will be a tough period until you start to communicate.. for now you get to rely on these words, "no news is good news."

We call this journey the "Roller Coaster Ride"..  it can get bumpy.  Tighten those seat belts and hold on tight. We are here to try and make this ride a little more comfortable.

Yes I do. My son left on March 6th. Miss him so much.
Yeah i miss my son too. Did you find his platoon or writing info out? If not i contacted our recruiter he gave it to me so i strongly suggest you try this because it was the unknown of everything that was bugging me. I was going insane then i got the info and was able to write and im feeling a little better.. have you joined facebook groups or other groups?

I do, I drop my son Sunday, Had not receive a call. I think he just like me, we do not remember each other number without a phone.

I read on this post. Someone ask us not to request phone number from recruiter because they request information from the camp and our kid might get more attention than they need to.

DNguyen, It is perfectly fine for you to ask the Recruiter. It is all in a data base, no one at the MCRD even knows that this info was accessed. Many good Recruiters keep track of the young men & women as they progress through Boot Camp. So even if they did have to ask someone, it would ot be any cause for concern.

Your Rct. will be IT'd enough all on his own, they will not have to look to outside events to find reasons to IT him.

Thank you Alex2toes
