I do. We dropped him off to the recruiter Sunday and got his call that he had arrived Monday night. I miss him already!
My son same thing and i miss him too already. This has been very hard. Do you know the graduation date?
The recruiter said June 2, assuming everything goes according to plan- no injuries, no failed qualifications, etc. Under those circumstances, they'd be dropped to the group a week or two behind, which would push their graduation date back. Praying that doesn't happen for any of them! I've already started writing :)

Is he your only? Oldest/youngest?
Do you have an address to write? They told me i had to wait to get a letter from him.. Hes 18 my middle son.. first time experiencing one leaving like this. Were you at the leo building watching him get sworn in? I went and then was airport seeing him fly off... what a day. Ive never spoken to a recruiter or met one. Im Dawn btw nice to meet you.

Welcome Dawn and chanamiata to the beginning of your recruit's journey!

Here is the 1st Battalion forum with lots of information links (like a link to the matrix to follow along with training).  Read and explore!  This Battalion forum also includes the Charlie Co. group.

It's best to wait for the form letter to send your letters. This will assure that you have the correct address. The form letter usually arrives 7-10 days from when they arrived at the Depot.

Hugs to you all with best wishes for your recruits!

Ok is this a facebook link? And thank you so much for you help. Hugs back

Hi, Dawn!  It's great to meet you too.

We're in Maryland, so they took a bus to PI. I didn't meet his recruiter until the day I dropped him off. My son is also 18, although he'll be 19 in May. I was going to say what Keri also said- they said we'd get a form letter with all the mailing info, and then we can send letters.  I've been writing anyway, lol- just waiting to send.

The longest my son has ever been gone is 7 days, and that's with family. But he's been talking about doing this since he was 12, so I guess I've had a lot of time to prepare.  He's been a firefighter/EMT since he was 16, which is also something he said he always wanted to do (since he was about 3 years old), so I had no reason to believe he'd change his mind about joining the Marines, lol. He's just always been that way- made up his mind to do something and then did it. We went to talk to a recruiter last June and he said he wasn't ready and wanted to wait a year or two.  Imagine my surprise when, 4 months later, he announces he's gone ahead and signed up!  The MEPS nearest us (where they swear in) is in PA- he didn't even tell us, he just did it and told us after, so I never got to see him swear in.

Well i hope they succeed and i know they will. All of them will be in my prayers if i get any new up dates ill let you know..
My son left for MCRD PI on Monday, March 6. I haven't received a first call. I don't know if that's a good thing, or not. I keep wondering what happened that he wasn't allowed to call, or if he's already in trouble. I hope it is nothing like either of those two scenarios.

I requested to join the Charlie Company Facebook page Monday night, but my request hasn't been approved as of yet.

I really am hoping for an update soon.
Wow im sorry to hear this try to remove the request and put it back in. I got accepted rather quickly.. i know on one fb page parents are saying they already got there platoon number nut no i havent yet and im really just feeling like up in the air. Hang in there with me and lets just pray well hear something asap
