MarineParents: Marine Family Network (MFN)

An Outreach Program of MarineParents.com

So my son left for boot camp on Dec 12, I sent out a letter the next day, and multiple ones after that. My son was delayed for his fitness and placed into PCP. He called and left a message with his new address. Due to the xmas/new year holidays, and no new recruits starting until Jan 7th, my son has remained in PCP. On xmas eve I did receive a phone call from my son for the holidays and he said he hadn't received any mail yet at all. My son had given me his new PCP address, so I told him they letters would be forwarded to him. Nope. The day after xmas I received my laters back, stating undeliverable. I contacted his recruiters and they said it was a one time glitch. Today I received 6 cards/letters returned to me stating undeliverable. I am sick over this. I contacted his recruiters again, and someone I don't know called to say they have no explanation of why they are being returned. I don't want my son to think we have forgotten about him. And I want to send him words of encouragement, but how can I, if they can't even explain why this is happening. Anybody have any suggestions?

use the new address he gave u.....and then put PCP in the lower left hand corner....i would try that

The address he gave me.... Even his return address is listed as PCP, then a po box....still coming back

This is the one time I would call his SDI. I do not reccomend this lightly, as I do not believe in contacting them. But you are correct, something is wrong, I am betting he got on a list & it takes for ever to get off the list. I would in this 1 instance, contact his SDI & I would also make clear that your Rct. was not the one complaining. The other thing you can do is contact the base Chaplin. He will be visiting the Rcts in PCP & MRP and he will be able to talk to your son, possible deliver a message. I cannot post the phone number I am sorry but if you google it, it should come up.

Thank you for your reply. I hate the thought of contacting his SDI b/c I dont want it taken out on him that his mother is being a baby b/c he isn't receiving his mail. I just want him to know that I am his rock for support. I know he can do this, I know he has the determination ,but we all need words of encouragement in life, and that's what my letters are saying to him. I am the one who encouraged him to do this. I am the one who told him to go after his dreams. Thank you for the thought of the Chaplin,,, I will look into it. I have his recruiters still working on it.

I don't think the Recruiter will be as effective as the Chaplin, someone who is actually THERE. Good luck and hang in there. It is a lonely scary place when your plans fall through and you no longer have a road map for what to do, where to go. I have been there several times. I'd give you a hug if I could.
