DOD Identifies Marine Casualty
The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom. Lance Cpl. Edward J. Dycus, 22, of Greenville, Miss., died Feb. 1 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. This incident is under investigation. Although we did not personally know LCpl Dycus, as part of the 2/9 family we feel a profound sense of loss at knowing that one of our son's brothers is gone. We hope that you know that others truly appreciate and understand the sacrafice that your Marine and your family has made for his country and that God will grant you peace during this time and in the future.
