I have been looking at all the posts and such but none of them seem to have the answers i am hoping for. I was wondering if the recruits will have and weekends off base (to visit family or have family visit them). I also see things about Family day and was wondering when this is. thank you for all your help.

Rosario

My niece is currently a poolee and will be shipping on July 11th 2012 (next year). She should be graduating first part of Sept.

We will be taking our RV to Beaufort for family day and graduation. I know it's early but would like to begin the search now for a RV park nearest to Parris Island so we can make reservations as early as possible.

Any info on RV parks near MCRD PI will be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Retired USMC Master Sergeant

Recruits do not get any weekends off. Only time they can visit family is during family day which is on Thursday morning (day before graduation).

Hi, I am sort of new to this site and am not sure just how to post messages, my son is a Marine who is currently deployed and I would love to keep in touch with other family members who also have deployed Marines.

Roxanne

Hi Rosario!  Recruits are basically out of contact from the rest of the world for 13 weeks!  You might get a scripted phonecall to let you know your recruit has arrived safely.
Other than that you will stalk your mail delivery person for letters!
There is a recruit parent aspect to this network. I think you will find not only great info but be able to connect with others who have loved ones in recruit training! Check with your recruits recruiting officer as well!  There is a training matrix . We kept ours on the fridge so we could see which phase our training  recruit was in. Please feel free to contact me !

Hi Roxanne. I know many families with deplored marines. Also there should be a unit aspect here for you to connect. Have you had contact with your FRO?

Morning Tennessee Top, there is the Parris Island RV Campgrounds I have heard very good things about it, if you go to our main page for Recruit Parents http://www.recruitparents.com/ scroll through the links on the left hand side of the page until you get to Parris Island, under there you will see a link for mccs South Carolina, you will be able to find the information there.  I am also sending you an email with the information in it, so be on the look out for it.  Thank you so much for your Service, how wonderful to have a niece following in your yellow foot prints, you must be amazingly proud.

Hi lvmyson, deployment is never easy for us mom's and it is best to go through it with others who are dealing with the same emotions and concerns.  You did a great job posting your message here in this group, and finding support and families who also have deployed Marines is as  simple as finding and joining the group that is best for you.  Here is the link to the Afghanistan Deployment Group  http://marinefamilynetwork.com/group/afghandeploy  join there, jump in and post, if you have questions and concerns the moderators will help you find the answers and point you in the right direction.  Please know you are not alone, stop into the MFN chat I am sure you will find many who have deployed Marines, as several of our moderators do as well.

Rosario, our members have  given you some excellent information, I just want to add our informational link  http://www.recruitparents.com/bootcamp/graduation-sd.asp  for Family Day and Graduation Day for MCRD San Diego.  Until he ships to boot  I suggest you join the Poolee and DEP Group, you will connect with others who are on the same path http://marinefamilynetwork.com/group/poolees

I have contacted the FRO a couple of weeks ago but I have not received any type of reply , I just wonder if the same FRO is the contact person / laison as the one we met at SOI graduation in February.

It is my understanding that each Unit has their own FRO, if you send me an email at volunteer.maria@marineparents.com with your Marine's Unit, I will do my best to find you their page

and the FRO information.  I take OpSec extremely serious and will treat this information accordingly.

I am new to this and my son will be leaving on June 13 for SD. I would really like to find someone to talk to that knows how I am feeling right now. I have so many emotions running through me that I am so confused with everything I am doing these days. All I know is I am trying to spend as much time with him as I can befor he leaves. No matter what it is he wants to do.
