    Reflections on week 1

    As week 1 draws to an end, I am grateful that this emotionally exhausting week is over. As each day passed, I slept a little more, but it was always a restless sleep. I felt like I awoke every hour. My mind was preoccupied with worries and endless questions of how my son was doing. Was he getting any sleep? Was he eating? How was he managing all the screaming from the DI's? Was he freezing during the early morning PT sessions? Was he questioning what he got himself into? or maybe was this exactly what he expected?There were many moments throughout the week that I struggled through, but I will share a few. I got a lump in my throat each time I passed his empty bedroom and it was a greater emptiness when I had to go into his room every night to feed his fish. Doing that first load of laundry which resulted with none of his clothes in the basket felt eerily weird.
